Sangram Singh Chundawat is a social worker who is currently serving in the NGO-MANAS on the post of Vice-President. He also works with the rural administration to ensure proper sanitation and hygiene in the region.
Sangram says that he comes from a small village near Udaipur. His father was in the Railways, so he had to move around a lot, doing his schooling from various schools of Udaipur and Ajmer. He did his graduation in Social Work from the Udaipur School of Social Work, followed by a diploma from MLSU in the field of Labor Law.
Sangram is currently working at the Panchayati Raj Department as a Coordinator where his main job is properly implementing the Swachh Bharat Scheme in villages and looking after sanitation and hygiene in rural areas. He has been working in the social service field for a long time and has worked for the betterment of the rural population in the areas of healthcare, organ donation, education, employment awareness, and so on. He has also worked in schemes launched by the world bank for about seven years in Rajsamand. Working in the remote areas was a bit difficult for him initially but he says that it also became a good experience to remember.
Along with this, Sangram also owns a computer training institute in Mavli, Udaipur.
After working with various NGOs for some years, Sangram, with his college friends, decided to start their own NGO. So they registered the Maa Bharti Navjeevan Seva Sansthan (MANAS) in 2003. His and his team’s next goal is to open an old age home.
The pandemic was a challenging time for Sangram as his computer training business took a hit and it is still recovering. Nevertheless, he and his team kept working and ran awareness campaigns, encouraging people to follow COVID protocols. He also ensured proper sanitation and availability of masks to all. Sangram says that their work is not completely done, as currently they are working in the direction of encouraging people to get vaccinated.
To the people who want to join the field of social work, Sangram says that it is a field with a huge responsibility and also has a promising future. He says that you do not need a huge investment for it. If you truly want to serve society, you should look around you and try to help the people in need. This way you can start and build a good career in the field of social work. He says you also learn a lot while working with various kinds of people.
Sangram thinks that a true leader believes in teamwork and works with the whole team to reach the goal.
Sangram considers Maharana Pratap as his role model. The great king’s modesty and sacrifice inspire him.
Whenever he gets free time, Sangram likes planting trees and looking after them. Every day he makes sure to plant at least two trees. He also enjoys working in his fields and spending quality time with his family.
