Sangeeta Bhatnagar is a highly acclaimed arts teacher based in Udaipur.
Sangeeta has been a drawing teacher at Alok Sansthan since 1997. She pursued an M.A. and a B.Ed. from Udaipur. She has been with Alok Sansthan since the beginning, and she also learned almost everything in her skill set from the school. She always had a dream of becoming an artist, as she loved it; however, due to certain situations, she is now an arts teacher.
Sangeeta says that she had a beautiful college life as she and her friends were all interested in painting, and that is what she misses about her past life. Her best memory is of her drawing a Fateh Sagar painting, which reminds her of the times she has been there and the scene that always soothes her eyes. She is also good with students, as she is a drawing teacher and asks all her students to draw Fateh Sagar in any manner they are comfortable with.
Sangeeta loves drawing with kids, as kids have new ideas in their minds, and drawing is all about displaying your ideas in a colorful way.
During the COVID crisis, Sangeeta says that she had an excellent time with her family. She and her children loved watching the mythological TV series during lockdown, like Ramayana, Mahabharata, etc. She enjoyed COVID lockdown as she cooked various dishes for her family.
"A teacher has the ability to change a student's behavior and morals." Sangeeta firmly abides by this statement, which clearly defines the power of a teacher. According to her, drawing is a happy subject, as everyone enjoys art. There is no rocket science to understanding art as it is inside your head; you just have to let it emerge.
Sangeeta thinks leadership skills in students are enhanced when the situation around them gets tough and it is their turn to make decisions. It doesn't matter whether the decision is right or wrong. The only thing that matters is that the student was able to make a decision for himself.
Sangeeta shares that she is inspired by her father, who was also an artist and a sculptor, and her school’s founder and director, Shyam Lal Kumawat, who gave her some excellent and life-changing tips.
