An international table tennis player with five national medals and four representations for India, Sangam Singh Rajput also teaches students. He won the Maa Sharda National Education Award in 2022 for his contributions to education and successfully founded Yakeen, a learning institute. Sangam Singh Rajput is also pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy while tutoring students, embodying a balance between sports and academics.

Sangam Singh Rajput is an International Table Tennis Player currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy from ITS Institute of Health and Allied Sciences, Ghaziabad. Alongside his studies, he is also a tutor, helping students solve complex problems.

Sangam Singh Rajput’s achievements include winning five national medals, participating in the National Games and representing India four times. His dedication to education earned him the prestigious Maa Sharda National Education Award in 2022.

Sangam’s interest in table tennis began when he was in the sixth grade after he joined Government Boys Senior Secondary School in Delhi. There, he watched senior students play and became inspired to join them. His PT teacher, Sunil Sir, noticed his passion and started training him  during and after school hours.

In 2015, Sangam Singh participated in his first district-level competition where he played as an extra player. Seeing others win medals motivated him to work even harder. The following year, with his coach’s guidance, Sangam competed at the zonal level and won a bronze medal. This marked the beginning of his successful career in table tennis, which took him to district, state, national and international tournaments, and even Asian Games.

While he flourished in sports, Sangam’s passion for education was equally notable. He entered the teaching field three years ago, shortly after completing his 12th grade. He started giving tuitions to students in 9th and 10th grades from CBSE and ICSE boards. In 2022, he founded Yakeen, a learning institute dedicated to helping students overcome their academic challenges. Yakeen quickly became a success, with two branches established within its first year of operation.

Born and raised in Ghaziabad, Sangam attended the same school until the sixth grade. Encouraged by one of his coaches, he learned the importance of balancing academics and sports. His coach advised him to concentrate on his studies alongside sports, suggesting that he pursue a profession in Physiotherapy. This advice resonated with him, as it allowed him to combine his love for science, particularly physics, with his sporting aspirations. Sangam's family, recognizing the importance of the medical field, also supported his interest in physiotherapy.

Sangam Singh Rajput’s journey took a turn when he participated in the South Asian Games. It was during this event that one of his Physiotherapy instructors encouraged him to pursue a career in physiotherapy. Motivated by this guidance, Sangam began preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). To his delight, he succeeded on his first attempt and secured admission to the Physiotherapy course at ITS Institute of Health and Allied Sciences, where he is currently in his fourth semester.

When asked about his role models, Sangam Singh says he looks up to his mother as his role model. She has always supported him through thick and thin, even when faced with opposition from his father. Additionally, Sangam has drawn motivation from the elders in his life—relatives and mentors who exemplified hard work and achievement. Growing up in an environment filled with individuals striving to accomplish great things fueled his own aspirations to achieve more.

A motivational quote that resonates with Sangam is, “Practice makes a man perfect.” However, he prefers to adapt this sentiment to his own philosophy: “Practice brings improvement.” He firmly believes that with consistent practice, one’s skills will continue to develop, and he is committed to improving his game day by day. His beliefs match with the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, particularly the 27th shloka, which emphasizes focusing on one's actions without concern for the outcomes. He interprets this to mean that one should concentrate on their efforts, as the results are not in your control.

Sangam Singh’s message to aspiring athletes and students is clear: mindset is everything. He emphasizes the importance of maintaining focus and avoiding overthinking. It is vital to make actionable decisions about one's goals in life. He believes each person has a unique path designed for them and that they must choose what brings them joy. Discipline is essential to achieving happiness, and cultivating a disciplined approach to life can lead to fulfillment.

Discipline is another key element that Sangam highlights. He believes that maintaining discipline in one's life is essential for achieving success, both in sports and academics. Through discipline, individuals can cultivate the necessary skills of stamina, strength, and speed—attributes that are vital for any sportsperson. Guided by the advice of his coach, Sangam does not believe in the prevalent notion that money power and politics can play a significant role in sports in India. He strongly believes that if someone is genuinely passionate and determined about their sport, a disciplined mindset is all they need to reach their goals.

To all aspiring students and young athletes, Sangam encourages greater involvement in sports and physical activities. He points out that modern education often follows a monotonous routine—school, coaching, and home.

Additionally, Sangam advocates diligent revision of what you  learn at school and in institutes. He recognizes that revisiting topics helps reinforce knowledge and facilitates quicker recall during examinations or in practical applications. By incorporating these strategies—pre-reading new topics and consistent revision—students can improve their academic performance and build a solid foundation of knowledge. Sangam's approach underscores the importance of being proactive in one’s education to achieve success.
