Driven by a desire to avoid the monotony of a typical 9-to-5 job, Sandip made the conscious decision to pursue teaching as his chosen profession. Over the course of eleven years, he has amassed a wealth of experience in the field of education.

Sandip Das is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communications at Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies, Udaipur.

Sandip looks after the R&D and cutting-edge technologies of the department. Prior to working at GITS, he used to teach at the University of Engineering and Management as an Assistant Professor and HOD.

Sharing about his career dilemma, Sandip reveals that he was uncertain about the path to take after completing his graduation. He found himself torn between pursuing an MBA, an MTech degree, or securing a job right away. Sandip emphasizes, "I had no aspirations of becoming a teacher." However, he recalls his friends often turning to him for help with conceptual doubts, and he would explain the concepts to them effectively. Sandip also shares that his parents wanted him to take up Computer Science, but he was more interested in Electronics.

Gradually, Sandip realized that a conventional 9-to-5 job was not suited to his interests and aspirations. Recognizing his motivating and persuasive abilities, he understood that a profession aligned with these qualities would be the best fit for him, allowing him to prioritize his health as well. This realization led Sandip to embrace teaching, which also provided him with an opportunity to equip students with resources he didn't have during his own academic journey.

Talking about his early days, Sandip says he hails from West Bengal and had completed his BTech and MTech. He is also a doctoral student who has researched and submitted his thesis on the topic of Visible Light Communication.

When asked about his role models, Sandip says that he looks up to his parents, who struggled to give him a good life. He also finds inspiration in Swami Vivekananda’s and APJ Abdul Kalam’s lives. Sandip draws motivation from the quote, "If you fail, never give up because F.A.I.L. means "First Attempt In Learning."

Discussing his challenges, Sandip reveals that immediately after graduating, he joined a software company in Bengaluru. However, after working there for just over three months, he began experiencing kidney problems due to the change in food. The severity of his condition led to jaundice, forcing Sandip to resign from his job and return to his hometown. After a one-year break, he did his MTech, but the health issues remained with him. Looking for a job just after completing his master's degree was also a challenge for him.

Speaking of his achievements, Sandip says he won some medals in drawing competitions at school and also won some technical project competitions during his college days. Sandip was promoted to the position of HOD and given additional responsibilities within two years of service at a university.

Drawing a comparison between education and experience, Sandip says that while your education and skills guide you in your initial days, as you get on with your job, your experience matters. He adds that experience helps you deal with people and situations better.

When asked about his mistakes, Sandip says he has made many and has constantly made an attempt to learn from them and rectify them.

Even if Sandip could travel back in time through a time machine, he would not correct his mistakes since he believes his experiences have made him a better person. However, he would revisit his childhood days and relive fond memories with his friends.

Sandip advises engineering aspirants to choose the right department for themselves, considering its future opportunities. He suggests they seek advice from academic counselors and choose a stream based on their interests.

Besides teaching, Sandip enjoys writing poetry and reading novels. He also enjoys watching movies and web series and listening to music in his free time.
