Having the zeal to do something for herself and to be independent, Sandhya started her own jewelry brand and has been selling a wide range of jewelry for many years.

Sandhya Rathi is the Proprietor at Gopa Jewels. She hails from Kolkata, and she started her journey twenty-two years back and has expanded her business to a level where she has almost all kinds of jewelry.

Sandhya says that she was born in Raipur. Her parents belonged to Amravati, and she had completed her studies from Amravati. She did M.Com and was a gold medalist of her college.

Recalling her childhood memories, Sandhya says that she was very naughty as a kid and had spent her childhood playing games, bunking classes, and being pampered and supported by her parents and siblings.

Talking about her challenges, Sandhya says that when she started her business, some of her family members did not want her to work outside Kolkata. However, her father-in-law supported her and helped her in running her business the way she wanted. Further, she says that she underwent a bypass surgery and was not able to work for eight months straight. But, after recovering, she restarted her business from scratch and is doing well these days, says Sandhya.

Speaking about her achievements, Sandhya says that she started her business on a very small scale and gradually expanded it with constant support from customers.

Talking about her role models, Sandhya says that her mother has been her role model who has taught her to fight through the tough times and be independent in life.

Advising the young aspirants to the field, Sandhya says that you will have to work hard in the initial days. But if someone wants to work in the fashion industry with dedication, this business gives a great response, you just have to work with dedication, says Sandhya.

If Sandhya were to choose between education and experience, she says that experience matters the most for a startup. She says that when she started her business, education was helpful, but her experience worked a lot.
