An entrepreneur and musician, Sandeep Bijawat embarked on his journey from Bhinder to Bishkek, never letting go of his passion for music even while pursuing medical studies. Sandeep plays in a band called Frunze Streets and also runs an art bar called 'SomeWhere Bistro' in Kyrgyzstan.

Hailing from Bhinder, a small town in the Udaipur district, Sandeep Bijawat, grabbed an opportunity to fly abroad, and is currently based in Kyrgyzstan. He plays in a band called Frunze Streets.

Sandeep’s passion for music began in his childhood. While music was his first love, his parents urged him to follow a more traditional path. Despite this, Sandeep auditioned for a music competition called the ‘Voice of Rajasthan (Junior)’ and not only got selected but also made it to the top 10, earning the chance to perform in Jaipur. He then won several music competitions in the junior category, marking the early milestones in his musical journey.

Sandeep Bijawat completed his schooling in Udaipur and then went abroad to pursue medical studies. However, his passion for music never waned. In Kyrgyzstan, he met a few like-minded musicians and together they formed a band. They began composing songs and performing in concerts, keeping his musical spark alive. After completing his education, Sandeep returned to India and stayed in Delhi for a year to continue his studies. Despite this, he felt unfulfilled and restless, knowing that his true calling lay in music.

Realizing the same, Sandeep went back to Kyrgyzstan, and opened an art bar called ‘Somewhere Bistro’, an ambience infused with art and music of all genres like jazz and rock. Sandeep has been staying in Kyrgyzstan for the last 12 years and is settled there. He is currently in Udaipur to shoot for his music videos along with his band.

Delving deeper into his passion for music and his band, Frunze Streets, Sandeep shares that the band comprises five members. The name "Frunze" harks back to the Soviet-era name of Bishkek, where the band is based. They specialize in independent rock music while also experimenting with Indian mantras. Proud of their original compositions, Sandeep takes on the role of the band's vocalist, infusing their music with his unique voice and cultural blend. Other members of the band include Vladislav Shamov (lead guitarist), Asel Nazarbekova (bass guitarist), Marat aka Mario (drummer), and Nikita (keyboard player).

Reflecting on his childhood, Sandeep shares that he grew up in a middle-class family. His father was a first-grade teacher, his mother a housewife, and there were three sisters. Rooted in Bhinder, Sandeep never imagined he'd ever travel on a plane, but now it’s a regular part of his life. He feels a deep sense of fulfillment having chosen to leave medicine behind to pursue his true passion for music.

When asked about his role models, Sandeep says he draws inspiration from Shahrukh Khan and is truly inspired by his incredible journey and how he is the most famous personality from India after Mahatma Gandhi.

Highlighting his achievements, Sandeep shares that performing in the SCO Summit and sharing the platform with great leaders of respective nations including PM Narendra Modi, has been the biggest achievement for him so far. Sandeep has also done a few concerts in Central Asia which include Tashkent, Almaty, Bishkek, etc. His group has often participated in music festivals and showcased their music talent as they travel across countries.

In his message to aspiring musicians, Sandeep emphasizes that music is a divine gift, and anyone with a passion for it can learn and master it. He advocates for musicians to create their own independent labels and compose original music, stressing the importance of authenticity in the art form. Sandeep believes the industry needs more original compositions rather than remixes of classic songs. He underscores the value of creativity in music and encourages budding singers and instrumentalists to develop their own unique pieces. Sandeep acknowledges that initial efforts may not meet expectations, but with continuous skill enhancement, success is inevitable.

Sandeep Bijawat adds that effective communication and good relationships with band members are crucial for forming a successful music band. He believes that having a strong sense of understanding, along with a calm and flexible personality, helps in harmonizing with the team.

Sandeep advises the youth to follow their passions rather than sticking to traditional professions, highlighting the many fields available today. He acknowledges that opting for a less secure career path in favor of pursuing one's passion is a difficult decision, but he encourages giving it a shot nonetheless.
