It's always important to believe in yourself.
Sakshi Sojatia is a director at Neerja Modi School.
Sakshi was born and raised in Udaipur. She lived most of her life in a joint family. All of them taught her several things that helped her make even the hardest decisions. If she could go back, she would want to relive her childhood days and the time that she spent in Mumbai during her MBA.
Sakshi obtained her education from multiple schools, which were St. Gregorios, St. Mary's, The Study, and St. Paul’s School in Banswara. After completing school, she completed her engineering degree. And later, she went to Mumbai to pursue her MBA.
After only a month of her marriage, her father-in-law gave her the opportunity and responsibility to manage the school and made her the director of the school.
Talking about her challenges, Sakshi shares that going to Mumbai has been her biggest struggle, as she had to convince her conservative family members to let her go and explore. Furthermore, being the director of a school was also very difficult for her, as she was the youngest among the employees. However, she overcame the difficulties with the support of the teachers there.
Sakshi loves to spend more and more time with the children. She has, throughout her career, learned from everyone around her and is dearly loved by all. She believes that the future of the children, which is her priority as an authority figure, lets her and everyone on her team focus on the future of those children, which is her most important responsibility.
Sakshi considers her father-in-law to be the most supportive and her role model, who teaches her leadership and different ways of handling things. She also takes inspiration from her mother, who used to poke her when she could not match her standards and let her be what she is today.
If given a time machine, Sakshi would like to relive her days in Mumbai.
Sharing her COVID-19 pandemic experience, Sakshi says she maintained a balance between taking care of the school as well as her family members, who all caught the virus. She learned how to treat COVID patients after handling a few cases in her own family.
In her free time, Sakshi loves to dance, sing, and do her best at any work that is delegated to her. She loves to go on long drives with her husband, and her favorite companion is music.
Sakshi shares that she doesn’t know if she is a born leader, but she has learned a lot. She believes that leadership means treating subordinates well and working with cooperation. A good leader builds a strong bond with the team.
When asked her opinion on education and experience, Sakshi says experience is more important. However, education is also essential, as everyone needs to be educated as it teaches us values that help us grow, but experience is all one needs to develop a career.
Sakshi’s success mantra is, "One cannot change the past or predict the future, so live in the present."
