A national awardee for his research, Dr. Saiyed is achieving new heights in his subject by continuously raising the bar of teaching and research work.

Dr. Saiyed Faheem Ali is an Associate Professor, in the Department of Library and Information Sciences at Madhav University in Pindwara, near Udaipur. He is also a PhD supervisor, and many students are conducting research under his supervision.

Dr. Saiyed has spent the last 20 years working in the education sector. He holds dual specialisations in Library and Information Sciences and Information Technology. He holds a Ph.D., a PGDCA, a B.Sc., an MCA, a B. Lib., and other degrees.

Saiyed recalls his childhood years and mentions that his father’s job was at Hindustan Zinc Ltd., and the majority of his memories are of Rajpura Dariba Mines, where he resided up to the completion of his education. He recalls, that without television or cell phones, those were wonderful times when he and his buddies used to celebrate each season and holiday.

When asked about his challenges, Saiyed admits his most difficult time was when he was extremely unhappy with his results in his M.Sc.-previous exams. After quitting his M.Sc. programme, he began working as a finance executive for a company. When he had been looking for a new job, one of his friends suggested joining PGDCA.  Saiyed says he didn't have enough money to cover his fees even, so he chose to combine his studies with work. However, this difficulty helped him to appreciate his parents' suffering and the importance of money in life.

On the question of education v/s experience, Saiyed says he thinks though both are important for life, he gives priority to education. He claims that experience won't provide a career advantage over schooling alone.

Talking about his accomplishments, Saiyed claims that he was the only academician from India among the forty people invited to an international conference in Athens, Greece. Additionally, he has won a few awards, including one national award, and has been involved in numerous national and international research projects.

Saiyed reckons the Pandemic experience was a thought-provoking time for everyone. People have begun to consider spending more time on their families and themselves as a result of COVID-19. Despite the difficulties his university faced, he continued teaching and the frequency of his online classes grew. He refers to the COVID-19 era as the rise of digital education.

Saiyed advises young people to choose their path based on their aptitude and motivation. He claims that no matter what field one is in, one must aim for perfection.
