Having done many national and international shows in the event industry, Sagar believes that if you want to fulfill your dream you should never sit back and hesitate, but rather work hard and accomplish your goal.

Sagar Verma works as an anchor in the events industry. He has been in the anchoring field for the last 10 years. He performs at all types of events like corporate parties, private parties, picnics, destination weddings, and more.

Sagar says he was born in a very small town in Kanpur where nobody knew what anchoring actually meant.

Sagar shares that this idea germinated when he saw his friend’s interview in the newspaper who was performing on the city level. That was when he felt that why should he stay back when he could also perform as good as his friend.

Sagar’s journey started in 2011 and the next two years of his life were very challenging, he says. He used to regularly travel from Kanpur to Lucknow to perform in shows. At that point in time, he faced difficulty in getting events. However, he says that those two years were the learning phase in his life and he feels very happy with  the growth in his career. Not only pan India,  he has also done many International shows.

Talking about his challenges, he says, while in 2014-15 he was at the peak of his career, there were many new anchors entering the anchoring field that made content creation quite challenging. However, those creators did not have quality content to entertain the audience. At that time, he as an anchor maintained his content quality, kept on performing in various shows, and maintained his identity.

Talking about his mistakes, he says that there are no limitations to the mistakes. Even he has made mistakes while being on shows. One of the biggest mistakes a content creator or an anchor can make is repeating the content. Also, picking up phone calls just before the show can divert you from entertaining your audience.

Giving us an account of his achievements, Sagar says that when he shifted to Lucknow, he got an opportunity to host the birthday party of the then Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s kids for four years consequently. Further, he believes that doing various Bollywood promotional and comedy event shows have been his achievements.

To the current generation who is willing to enter the anchoring field, Sagar advises them to stop copying others. If you love someone’s content, add up your kind of creativity in the content but not fully copy-paste the content. Moreover, if you want to be a good performer, always be pre-prepared for any kind of spontaneity. Improve your communication, read your audience, and be engaging, he advises.

Talking about his inspiration and role models, Sagar says his batchmate Anchor Neeraj Saini and Anchor Ashish Shrivastav have inspired him a lot.

Advising the youth, he says nobody will ever teach you how to perform. A person can take you along to the events so that you can observe and learn, however, they would not ever teach you.

When asked how he deals with stress, Sagar says he always prefers taking short travel breaks when he feels stressed and over-exhausted. Travel helps him be more creative.

In his free time, he loves to watch actors and comedians, read books, watch other anchors performing, and travel.
