Sagar Amlani has done everything from being a litter-picker to a loader, to being a supervisor in a plant to an entrepreneur. He is currently working as the CEO of Zapro Consultants, a company he started amid the pandemic in October 2020, after quitting his job as a VP at Fenoplast Ltd.

Sagar is a productivity explorer; his company Zapro Consultants means Z as 'Zenith of Productivity', A is where he starts engaging with the clients i.e. the starting point, and Pro stands for professional services. He says he started his company during the pandemic because he believes that when life is in a dip, you should put in your maximum energy. After all, the curve can only go up from there. It is a single-member company, and he has outsourced most of the work to cut costs. Currently, he has three long term clients.

Sagar was born in Nasik and brought up in Mumbai. Later in life, he studied and worked in London. In his own words, his journey from Mumbai to London is impressive, which can be read in his book "at the crossroads of life" When he was young, his family lived in a chawl in Mumbai. There was so much scarcity in his life that he says scarcity was his teacher. He learnt how to live with minimum resources and make maximum utilization of the available resources making him learn the art of productivity. He says the idea of building a productive mindset was formed in his mind at that time only. He remembers surviving the great floods of Mumbai on 26th July 2005 with thousands of others. But his life completely changed after those floods.

When he was young, he recalls that he once earned 22000 rupees by selling crackers on Diwali, which ignited the spark of an entrepreneur. After post Floods of 2005, he decided to do Masters to bring the desired change in his life and get his parents out of the slums; after a lot of effort for almost two years, he managed to go to London. He paid for his education in London by working as a litter-picker, a bartender and a loader. Once, in London, he came to know that the plant where he worked had a bottleneck to operate the spectrometer. He helped solve the problem and was offered a white-collar job.

Sagar says you must have your goals clear cut in your mind, and you must realize your strengths and weaknesses and what you must do to achieve your goal. It would be best if you were like a child to learn more in life. Passion and enthusiasm to achieve your goal will create the right mindset for you.

After finishing his education in London, he worked in the company. Finally, his dream to get a better life for his parents was achieved by buying a home in Mumbai. When he came back to India, he searched for a job but to no avail. It took him six months to convince the employers that he was ready to work on an Indian salary compared to what he was drawing in London. Finally, he landed a job in HDFC, standard life, a company situated in Mumbai as a Process Analyst. Within nine months, he got a job in Hyderabad as Vice President at a public limited organization, where he worked for 10+ Years and developed an Autonomous work culture.

Sagar says that a day in your life comes when you outgrow your position. You learn more from challenges in life than in school. This hunger for challenges led him to quit the company and start Zapro Consultants.

His advice is that patience is the key to success for youngsters and newcomers. Even if you hire a team, you must be patient with them and give them time to produce results.

Talking about his inspirations in life, he says his parents have been his best mentors. He also considers his first boss (Mr Biju) as his motivator.

When asked what he will change if he gets a chance to go back in life, he says he would choose not to do so as he thinks that whatever he is today, it is because of what happened in the past in his life, and so he does not want to change anything.

He plays with his kids in his free time and spends time with family. He also likes listening to music and reading books. He has always been influenced by the book 'The Secret' by Rhonda Byrne, which he reads repeatedly.
