Sabita Mohalik is the founder of Cheeni Kum - a YouTube Channel.
Originally from Orissa, Sabita currently resides in Dhanbad, Jharkhand. Academically, Sabita has done M.Sc followed by M.Ed, and has even done Law and Management courses. She is currently pursuing a PG in Diet and Nutrition.
Talking about her work, Sabita shares that she runs social media groups related to cooking. She says that hers is not just any usual cooking channel, but she has started it with a vision of taking local cooking to another level by promoting diverse cooking styles from all over India. She organises cooking events in collaborations with different brands. She encourages maximum participation in her cooking events by charging zero fees from the participants. Sabita shares that her husband’s foodie instincts kindled her interest in cooking. She also engages in social service.
To deal with stress and with her problems efficiently, Sabita keeps her personal and professional lives separate. She does have problems in her professional life like the most annoying copyright issues that she is facing. She further says that organising huge cooking events while also balancing family responsibilities and studying at the same time becomes quite hectic at times. However, with the support from her husband and her business partner, she manages it all fairly easily.
Speaking of role models, Sabita says that her late mother is her role model, who taught her to be focused on her goal. She is also grateful to her husband and her business partner for their constant guidance and support. She further adds that she takes inspiration from Dr. APJ Adbul Kalam and Babasaheb Ambedkar. She further says that all her accomplishments are the result of constant support from her friends and family.
Sabita has a diverse range of hobbies and does not like sitting idle. She says that along with cooking, she likes gardening, singing, and painting too. When free, she contemplates new concepts and ideas for her future events. She also takes time out to visit different schools and teach cooking to children.
Sabita says that she has been blessed with numerous achievements. Sharing some of them, she says, within one year of starting Cheeni Kum, she got to work with the Amul brand which was a delightful feeling for her. She also feels proud of her current event ''Odia Food Fiesta” , which has given her fame all over the country.
Sabita presses that whatever you may do, education is a must in life. She further says that a little risk and experimentation doesn’t hurt, as it opens new doors and possibilities.
Given a chance to go back in time in a time machine and do some things differently, Sabita says that she would like going back to her past and would like to become the Prime Minister due to her interest in politics and to put her leadership skills to good use.
Sharing her views on the impact of the COVID pandemic, Sabita says that although it was a devastating time for everyone, it also taught us the value of family and self-reliance. She further says that COVID is the reason she started her social media page as she was not able to sit doing nothing during the lockdown. She says that this way, she was able to turn that difficult time into a fruitful one.
