Growing up, Runa would always love to portray and see herself as a writer and would like to read and write poems. As she grew up further, it came naturally to her to choose journalism as her career.

Runa Ashish Bhutda has been a journalist for the past twenty years now.

Runa originally hails from Indore, MP. She completed her school and college education from Indore itself. She did a Masters in Journalism. Currently, she is settled in Mumbai.

Recalling her childhood, Runa says that she had always been a kid who would constantly strive to learn something new. Though she would do some mischief, she would mostly be sincere and would always utilize her time in doing something meaningful, she says.

Runa shares that after completing her masters, she worked in Delhi for a brief period. Then she moved to Mumbai and since then she has been working there as a journalist.

Runa shares that it came naturally to her to choose journalism as her profession. She says her father was a journalist and most of her family members were related to literary work. Although, initially, she wanted to join the Army and serve the nation, later she chose to pursue journalism when she learned that women in the Army were not allowed to enter battlefields.

When asked about her role models, Runa says that it is very hard for her to pinpoint a particular person as her role model. She takes inspiration from many people. To name a few, Mahatma Gandhi, Swami Vivekananda, and her father have been role models to her.

Talking about her view on the importance of education v/s experience in life, Runa says that education and experience both go together. She says if you just keep acquiring experience without knowing in which direction in your career you are headed, then such an experience adds no value whatsoever. However, she says, your education teaches you which direction to work in.

To aspiring journalists, Runa tells them that journalism is a good career choice and has a really good scope in future. She advises them to know their targeted audience and based on that they should deliver their content. Besides, she advises them to always report events and things in such a manner that it keeps the integrity of the country intact.

Runa says that she was not a born leader. She developed her leadership qualities by doing theater, dancing, and writing poems from an early age.

Reviewing her COVID experience, Runa says that the damages that the pandemic caused are irreparable. Besides, she says that the pandemic was a period of self-discovery for her as she got a lot of me time. Furthemore, she says that technology brought people closer and kept them connected during the pandemic.

If she could go back in time via a Time Machine, Runa says that she would want to choose Defense as her genre of journalism first and then entertainment as she thinks that covering and reporting stories on the nation’s defense matters is a service to the nation in itself.

In her spare time, Runa likes to spend time with her husband and daughters. Besides, she is also a trained classical dancer and likes to dance in her free time.

To younger generations, Runa advises them to have unwavering determination toward achieving their goals. She says, if they are hard-working and determined in life then there’s nothing that they can’t achieve.
