Ruchika started her own bakery business after twenty years of being just a housewife. She is an ideal for many women who want to do something even while staying at home.

Ruchika Kohli is a Baker and a YouTuber. She has her own YouTube channel named “RK Food Fusion”. She hails from Nagpur.

Sharing her journey Ruchika says, for twenty years she had been a housewife. After her in-law’s death, she used to feel all alone at home. She used to worry and feel sad about not doing anything significant in her life. Her son motivated her to do something and rise in life. Then she joined a vocational course. She has done a six months baking course from City and Guilds Institute. She says she used to bake cakes and send them to her friends to taste and give her feedback. Her friends supported her and encouraged her a lot. Gradually, her cakes became famous in the neighborhood and now, after three years in this field she has established her name in the field.

Recalling her childhood memories, Ruchika says she was born in Jabalpur. She did her complete education in Jabalpur itself. She had received a three-year poly-technic diploma in Fashion Designing. Her college ranked her first in this course. After her marriage she shifted to Nagpur and spent her twenty years as a mere housewife.

Ruchika says she had been interested in cooking since her childhood. She was more interested in cooking spicy food rather than sweets. She thought about learning how to bake cakes and other bakery items. So, she joined the City and Guilds Institute to learn baking.

Speaking about her challenges, Ruchika says during her baking course she used to stand for the whole day to bake. She had to manage her household and family responsibilities along with her course. Again at the institute it was a challenge to adjust where she was the eldest student among the young girls who were learning this course. But she enjoyed her course and the companionship of her co-students. After her course competition, her son motivated her to utilize her baking skills and make it a business. Initially, she started gifting her friends a few of the baked items which received a lot of praise, and then it turned into a business.

She remembers the time when her co-students didn’t want to be her friends because of her excellent baking skills. She gives credit to her husband and son who supported and encouraged her to complete her course, no matter what. Because of their support she not only completed her course but also successfully started her bakery business and also runs her YouTube Channel.

When asked about her role models, Ruchika says she considers her mother as her role model. She taught her the first lessons in cooking. She also looks up to Nirali Madam of “Nirali Cooking” who gave her cooking training. Further she says, time is the biggest guru who teaches us to improve on every step and with every mistake.

Speaking about her mistakes, Ruchika says she used to worry more about others’ feelings ignoring hers. But with time she has learned to balance her emotions.

Speaking about her achievements, Ruchika says she feels happy and proud when she can make her clients happy and satisfied with her cake designs.

In her free time, Ruchika enjoys gardening. She also loves to relax in her bed. She likes to dance to relax herself.

Ruchika suggests budding bakery artists to devote themselves to the satisfaction of their clients. She says bakery artists must practice their baking skills and must complete their order with all perfection and keeping in mind the expectations of their clients.
