Ruchika Jain is a video content maker and social media marketer who owns a YouTube channel called Firefly. For the last two years, she has been traveling, trekking, and blogging about food, people, and places spanning over thirty-two towns and cities in twelve states.
Ruchika was born and raised in Udaipur in a middle-class family. Her schooling was at a Hindi-medium school. After school, she completed her diploma from Vidya Bhawan Polytechnic College. She did her graduation in engineering from the CTAE college, Maharana Pratap Agricultural University, Udaipur. She also took a short-term course in mountaineering at the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering.
Ruchika says she was a shy and simple girl in her school days. It was when she entered college that her mind opened up to the world. She even contested the university student union elections and won the post of general secretary. This also helped cultivate a leadership quality in her.
Ruchika joined Pacific University as an assistant professor. Suddenly she was hit by the traveling bug, and she went solo backpacking to Dharamshala. Up until now, she has already visited 32 places in twelve states, exploring the people, their food, and their culture. She has been following her passion for mountaineering. She led a group of 60 mountaineers at the Indian Youth Association on an expedition to the Kedarnath peak. She was also the camp leader for 1500 people on a trek to Sar Pass in Himachal Pradesh. Ruchika has done more than thirty-five difficult treks, including the Chadar Trek in Ladakh.
Ruchika is passionate about her YouTube channel and has interviewed over sixty celebrities for the channel and covered the stories of several roadside people. As a web content maker and social media marketer, Ruchika produces authentic and high-quality videos for her audience. Her long-term aim is to follow her passion along with her profession.
Ruchika began supporting her mother at an early age, as she had seen the hardships and devotion of her mother, which created a leadership trait in her. Her mother is her role model, who taught her that one should complete any task one undertakes, come what may.
Ruchika says success is not something you can achieve without being consistent in whatever you are doing. You might take a break, but you cannot stop. And that has always been her success mantra.
Ruchika thinks a career in mountaineering is not very easy. It’s a passion for some and a waste of time for others. She says trekking is something where you feel pain at every step you take. But she enjoys it, and that is all that matters to her.
Ruchika’s advice for the young generation is to give their hundred percent to whatever they do and always stay motivated because even if they fail, it is not the end. The youth have to be patient in whatever they are doing, and if they’re passionate about something, follow it, but never neglect their education.
Ruchika believes education is the only way to live your dreams. Money is a necessity to survive, and money can be earned only through knowledge and skills in this changing world. Utilizing her education, she teaches kids from the USA at night to earn some extra money. She says an Instagram page might look cool, but you must remember that there is a lot of effort behind it.
