Being a part of an extremely conservative community, Roshni faced many challenges but has emerged as a successful female tattoo artist.

Roshni Khan is a Tattoo Artist based in Ghaziabad. For the last seven years, she has been working in this field and for the last three years she has been running her own tattoo studio in Ghaziabad.

Roshni belongs to Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. She did her schooling from a government school till 6th grade. Later on her father went missing. That’s why she left her studies and took all the household responsibilities on herself along with giving exams from open school. She even managed to do an MBA.

Recalling her childhood, Roshni says that she always had a desire to become an artist because of having a flair for creativity from the beginning.

Roshni shares that she started her professional journey as a receptionist at P.S. Tattoo Piercing. Working there, she was quite impressed and fascinated by the tattoo making process and that’s when she decided to learn this art. After learning tattooing, she worked for five years and soon she opened her own tattoo studio in the name ‘RV Tattoo’.

Describing her struggles, Roshni says that being from a conservative family background, there was never a culture of educating girls in her house. So she had to leave the formal education process very early and started working from the 8th grade itself. Besides, when she entered into the field of tattooing, all her friends, family and relatives were against her. They used to taunt her by saying that this is not a respectable profession, especially for girls. But she faced all the challenges boldly and became a successful tattoo artist by making her dream come true. And today when she has become successful, everyone praises her.

Talking about her achievements, Roshni claims that there is no other female tattoo artist in the entire NCR region except her and it is a big deal for her. Apart from this, an article was published about her in the newspaper honoring her as the best female tattoo artist in NCR and it was the proudest moment of her life. She says her biggest achievement is seeing her mother proud of her and her work.

Sharing her COVID experience, Roshni says that COVID had badly impacted her business because everything had come to a standstill. She also found it difficult to pay rent for her shop. Then, within a few days, she started getting calls from her clients to provide home services. Moving ahead, she kept her shop open and provided her services following every COVID guideline.

Whenever Roshni gets any free time, she loves to spend most of her time with her family. Sometimes she also likes to hang out with friends.

Roshni advises the young artists that you do not need any degree to become a tattoo artist. You just have to do your work diligently. So she says that if you enter the field with a firm mindset, you will definitely excel in it. Further she says that you should always move ahead with the support of your family because without them the path becomes very difficult.
