Luck knocks on your door only once in your life.
Rolika Singh is a director at Arena Animation, Jaipur.
Rolika always had an interest in doing something creative and different. Initially, her parents allowed her to do a BA, but she wanted to do a different course, so she joined Women’s Polytechnic College to pursue the diploma course in Commercial Arts. In 1999, she opted to pursue an Animation and Design degree and persuaded her parents to support her decision.
Recalling her childhood, Rolika says that she belonged to a small, middle-class family and that her childhood was normal but happy. She spent her childhood with her neighbours as if they were family, and she shares and appreciates most of her memories with them. She learned punctuality, discipline, and hard work from her father.
Talking about her journey, Rolika says that after completing her graduation, she undertook graphic design and animation courses. As she wanted to become independent, she joined a firm as a graphic designer. It was the turning point in her life, and she started her journey from there. Slowly and gradually, she got promotions in this industry, but due to some circumstances, she left the design field.
Afterwards, she decided to give an interview at Arena Animation as a faculty member. She says that her destiny gave her the chance to be the director of the organisation. She put all her efforts and knowledge into growing the institution. After two years, she had to resign from the organisation, but eventually she got an offer from the head office of Arena to start her own centre. She opened her first branch and got 35 admissions in a month, and then opened two more centres in Jaipur.
Accepting her mistakes, Rolika says that she trusted people very quickly and easily. Along with time, she learned to judge people because people take advantage of you being humble.
Sharing her achievements, Rolika says that achievement is the thing that gives you inner satisfaction instead of getting awards. The respect from the students and appreciation from their parents are her biggest accomplishments. Apart from this, she also received some awards from the media and society, like the Principal and Teacher Award, the Women’s Entrepreneur Award, etc.
When asked about her role models, Rolika says that she doesn’t have any in her life because she never follows anyone. She herself is her role model, as she made her own decisions.
To beat stress, Rolika prays and spends time alone in nature.
Rolika’s life mantra is to take chances, accept the challenges, and put in hundred percent effort with honesty to achieve success.
