Hailing from Karnal, Haryana, Rohit had always been interested in business, and music is also a passion for him. He has been performing at national and international venues for the past eight years.
Recalling his childhood, Rohit says he was born in Aligarh, UP, where he studied at a government school. Later, his father shifted with him to Karnal and started the business of selling Pethas. He got admission to Himalaya School. It was difficult for a student from a government school like him to grasp the CBSE syllabus. Later, he completed his schooling at Nirmal School, where he participated in many competitions and TV channel performances. He learned to play the harmonium and to sing vocals; he used to visit Gurugram on Saturdays and Sundays to learn music.
Sharing about his journey, Rohit says his musical journey was a difficult one as he belongs to a non-musical family. He sang a song at his teacher’s request, and his musical journey began. Standing in the school assembly for singing built his confidence, and he also started practicing in the music room. His father always supported him. However, his mother had a mental disorder. He visited every state and set up camps with NGOs, where he learned many things. He also started performing out of state, and due to his busy schedule, he used to go alone. Many times he used to take lifts at night and also came home the next day of the show. After his 12th grade, he got a scholarship from Lovely Professional University and completed his graduation in music there.
Sharing his accomplishments, Rohit says he performed his last show in Dubai. He was a winner of the TV show ‘Kisme Kitna Hai Dum’ season 3. He also participated in Zee Punjabi Antakshari. He is also a winner of an international folk singing competition held by NIFFA. He has done more than 50 competitions, out of which he has won 30 or more.
Talking about his mistakes, Rohit says that he generally does not make mistakes, but many times he did not take the payment on the day of the show, which was his mistake.
When asked how he maintains his mental peace, Rohit says social media has divided life into two different worlds. People are addicted to mobile phones, and it is increasing mental stress among them. He likes to work in his band and vlog, which keeps him stress-free.
When asked about his role models, Rohit says everyone who taught him anything good is his role model. He also learned from celebrities such as Sonu Nigam and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. He also learned from his gurus, Pawan and Siddhant Pruthi, and considers them his role models.
