Rohit Jain has been an Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering. He hails from Ajmer, Rajasthan, and currently runs two coaching institutes in the city.
Rohit shares that his coaching institute, ‘Vibrant Academy’, caters to students of classes 8th to 12th, mainly focusing on science and math students. His idea is to provide quality education to students and give them individual attention. Rohit also offers services like career counselling and vocational training for students. He provides free coaching classes for students who are unable to study due to a lack of financial resources.
Recalling his childhood, Rohit shares that he completed his schooling in Ajmer and always stood first in his class up to the 10th standard. He was always keen on studying mathematics and opted for the subject in his 12th. Rohit recollects teaching a few concepts to his batchmates, which somewhere laid the foundation of his career in teaching. Winning an award at an annual function held at school was a moment that Rohit continues to cherish. Besides education, Rohit has also been a cricket enthusiast and has played up to the district level.
Describing his struggles, Rohit says that he always desired to move out for better educational opportunities. However, due to financial issues, he had to take a step back and do his engineering in his hometown itself. Thereafter, he couldn’t get a good placement from his college, after which he moved to Jaipur in search of better jobs. Rohit got rejected in various interviews, which was disappointing for him. Thereafter, he appeared for interviews at engineering colleges and worked in Mumbai for three years. Rohit then began feeling homesick, after which he came back to Ajmer and struggled to find another job. He then decided to open his coaching institute, where he struggled to grab students and to market himself. Rohit also accumulated a loss in his first year of launching the institute.
Sharing his achievements, Rohit says he feels proud to share that his students have cleared competitive exams like JEE and NEET. Being able to clear all the queries of his students also counts as an achievement for Rohit.
When asked about his role models, Rohit says he draws inspiration from Sachin Tendulkar, whom he finds humble and grounded despite reaching great heights in his career. He is also inspired by his father, who motivates him to face challenges in life. Rohit is also thankful to his mother, who gave him the strength he needed to grow in life.
Drawing a comparison between education and experience, Rohit shares that while education helps you differentiate between right and wrong, it is experience that teaches you about various aspects of life that cannot be taught at any school or college. He laments that today’s education system is more focused on rote learning than gaining knowledge.
If Rohit could go back in a time machine, he would relive his school days, which were devoid of any responsibilities. He would also fulfil his dream of getting into the merchant navy.
Rohit advises everyone to put in their efforts and gain knowledge with the available resources at hand. He adds that they need to keep moving until their goal is achieved. Rohit advises all parents to restrict the use of cell phones for school students and pay attention to their activities on social media.
