Rohit Basfore is a Theater Artist. He has been in this industry for the past eight years. He performs with the Padatik Theater group in Kolkata and also works as a freelancer.
Rohit was born and brought up in Kolkata. He has done his entire schooling from there itself.
Recalling his childhood memories, Rohit says that he got inspired by his father and uncle to perform as a theater artist. He used to perform small roles in his school's annual functions since his childhood. Even though he lacked confidence, he followed his father who had always taught him that nothing happens automatically, you need to put in the effort to make things happen.
Talking about his challenges, Rohit says that he had to struggle a lot after his father’s death. He had to do a job to take care of his family. However, her family has supported him a lot in his theater journey. His mother, sister, and his wife have been the supporting pillars throughout his journey, he says.
Speaking about his mistakes, Rohit says that he left his job to become a theater artist which was one of his mistakes. He says that he could have managed theater while continuing with his job.
When asked about his achievements, Rohit says that materialistic things may come and go, but real achievement is when you work to improve your weaknesses. One great achievement which Rohit talks about is that he cleared the preliminary test of the National School of Drama.
Sharing his COVID experience, Rohit says that the pandemic was quite good for him. He worked in online theaters and shadow theaters during COVID. He says that after the lockdown he has continuously been working in movies, theaters, and has also taken workshops for children, and eventually started gaining confidence in his work.
When free, he spends time with his family, loves to sketch, watch movies, read books, and more.
Advising the youth, Rohit says that if you want to get respect you need to give respect. Also, he says to be as simple as you can, and don’t make things complex.
