Robin Xavier is the Match Commissioner at All India Football Federation. He also runs a Football academy named Jaipur Football Club. In 2012, he participated in the prestigious Gothia Cup too. He is primarily an IT professional who has worked in various tech companies like Microsoft and Zentech before joining Football as a career.
Robin was born in Kerala and moved to Rajasthan with his parents where he spent most of his childhood. In Rajasthan, he initially used to live in Jhunjhunu and then he moved to Jaipur and continues to reside there. He did his schooling from St. Xavier's School in Jaipur.
Talking about his childhood memories, Robin says that he enjoyed being close to nature. He says that he and his friends used to play around with horses that were there in his school and used to climb trees to pick fruits.
Robin recalls that when he was young, his father used to take him to a football ground on Sundays where he would sit and watch his father play. And from there, he says, he picked up interest in the game. Thereafter, his coach in school time and his friend (who is a Football Coach) had inspired him to follow his passion. After he joined the All India Football Federation, his friend Suresh Rajan taught him the essentials of the job and he continues to inspire him.
Robin says that in Football, having good infrastructure is a challenge. He says that when he started the Jaipur Football Club, he had to struggle a little bit before finally having a decent place to coach and play regularly.
Talking about his achievements, Robin says that the biggest achievement of his football career was when he participated in the Gothia Cup in 2012 as a coach. The Gothia Cup, he informs, is one of the largest Football championships in the world where about 52,000 players and officials participate. He says that it was a unique experience for him and his players.
