Rishiraj joined the hospitality industry due to his fascination for culinary arts and subsequently entered the education part of hospitality to carry his knowledge forward.

Rishiraj Singh Rathore is the Campus Head at International Institute of Hotel Management.

Rishiraj comes from Udaipur. He did his initial schooling in Ajmer and completed the rest of his education from Pilani. Growing up, he was fascinated with the idea of joining the army due to the respectful culture of the army. He did his hospitality management course from IIHM, Kolkata.

Talking about his work, Rishiraj says that he has been working in the hospitality industry since 2003. He joined the industry right after graduating from IIHM. He initially started off as a chef due to his interest in food and hospitality. He has worked at various hotels like Umaid Bhawan, Surya Palace, etc. Rishiraj eventually joined IIHM and steered his career in the direction of teaching.

Rishiraj says that the best thing about working in this industry is that you get to visit exotic travel locations to work and get paid for working there. He further adds that in hospitality training, you get to learn everyday and need to work responsibly, which inspires him. He also likes the fact that as a trainer in the hospitality industry he gets to shape the futures of his students.

Advising budding hospitality professionals, Rishiraj says that you should be empathetic as well as sympathetic. He further advises them to listen to others’ point of view and anticipate accordingly. He presses that you should strive to provide the best service to your guests.

Drawing comparisons between education and experience, Rishiraj says that both of these go hand-in-hand, but in the longer run experience beats education. He further says that especially in his profession, experience holds more value.

Rishiraj is a fan of a cartoon character called Phantom and has learned good things from him. He admires his mentor from when he was undergoing his culinary training. He also takes inspiration from Ratan Tata’s life.

Rishiraj is an avid reader and regularly makes time for reading books In his free time.
