Rhea Pubjabi is the co-founder of lucknow-based Ada Fashion Studio, which deals in traditional Chikankari apparel. Rhea is glad to express that, prior to turning into a business person, she was a housewife, mother of two delightful girls, and a happy spouse.
Rhea says, at the Ada Fashion Studio, she and her husband promote the traditional art of Lucknow Chikankari as a timeless fashion statement by delivering this unique Awadhi culture’s handicraft globally at everyone’s doorstep.
Recalling her childhood, Rhea remembers the quality time she enjoyed with her parents in Kanpur where she was born and grew up. She says her parents pampered her over her older brother.
Rhea shares that her life turned 360 degrees when she got married in 1997 and moved to Lucknow. She feels blessed to have a perfect husband with two pretty daughters.
Rhea says when her daughters grew a little older, she had a lot of free time. So, she considered investing this time at her husband's store. At the store, she started learning about fabrics, chikankari and other trade stuff.
Sharing about her struggles, Rhea says that when joined her husband in his business, some of the difficulties she confronted were lack of knowledge about fabrics, business management, lack of market exposure, customer handling, and so on.
She says she was lucky enough to have a husband who encouraged her and at the same mentored her.
Talking about her achievements, Rhea mentions the Facebook award ' Most Promising and oldest Business Page’ which was given to her for running “Ada Designer Chikan Fashion Studio” page, which was also first in UP.
She says transforming her hobby into a thriving business and being recognized by her customers across the country is in itself a great accomplishment, of which she is proud.
Talking about her role models, Rhea says she regards her Father and her husband as her inspirations and ideals. She says she gained discipline from her father, and her husband taught her every aspect of the business.
In her free time, Rhea cherishes being in her garden and loves buying new plants, by spending time in the greenery she feels calm and more peaceful. She feels driven by it. Rhea says chanting "Om Namah Shivay" gives her a boost.
Rhea encourages new entrepreneurs by advising them to be versatile and steady in their businesses.
She advises everyone to always value their work and put their heart into it, particularly to figure out how to be self-restrained and self-driven.
