Passionate about both writing and directing, Reva had made significant contributions to multiple films by the age of 21. She assisted in directing various short films and series, even interning as an Assistant Director for the Hotstar series ‘Escaype Live’. Her work earned her the opportunity to screen at the Indian Dance Festival.

Rewa Rawat is a Writer, Director, Filmmaker, and Creative Consultant at Swastik Productions. She has been in this field for the last four years. She is also a national basketball player and a dancer.

Hailing from Pune, Rewa belonged to a business family and lived in a joint family of forty members. This familial backdrop profoundly influenced her childhood, instilling enduring values in her. While initially an introvert, her foray into the film industry catalyzed her transformation into an extrovert individual. Although her parents were worried about her pursuing this field, she convinced them by proving herself.

Rewa's affinity for writing dates back to her early years, having penned short stories since she was in the sixth grade. Despite initially pursuing science in the eleventh grade, a subsequent realization led her to opt for a career in writing. During the COVID lockdowns, she collaborated with a friend aspiring to become a cinematographer, and produced a short film. Although the film's quality was not optimal, she enjoyed the process, and the experience proved invaluable for her, which motivated her to produce high-quality films.

Sharing her experience, Rewa recounts her progression from the initial short film to subsequent projects such as music videos, ad films, and additional short films. She further delved into roles as an Assistant Director and Art Director, including an internship with the Hotstar series ‘Escaype Live’. In 2019, she embarked on creating her first feature-length documentary, chronicling the history of Kathak for the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute. Currently, she serves as the Creative Associate at Swastik Productions in Mumbai, contributing to scriptwriting for feature films.

Talking about her challenges, Rewa acknowledges the difficulty of finding like-minded individuals in the industry. She has been learning to trust the process and accept the criticism because it will always be a part of life in this field. It becomes a challenge for her to have people listen to her and respect her. She strives to be evaluated based on her work rather than her age. She even left her dream university to pursue her film career, which was a difficult decision for her.

Rewa shares that she has never regretted her mistakes, as she has always learned from them. She has learned to be consistent, even after multiple failures.

Sharing about her achievements, Rewa saya that she is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree in History. She was studying in Canada but had to come back due to COVID. She also won the Dean’s Excellence Award at her university. She has been a national basketball player, and her work has been appreciated. She was praised by Sudha Murthy. She got the opportunity to screen at the Indian Dance Festival. Her biggest accomplishment is that she made a film by herself.

When asked about her role models, Rewa says that the work of David Fincher and Christopher Nolan inspires her, and she aspires to be like them one day. In her personal life, her grandfather has been her inspiration, always teaching her that success cannot be achieved without the people you love.

For mental peace, Rewa takes time out for herself to think about all the thoughts that are disturbing her and does something that she really loves, like reading, meditating, and spending time with family. She remembers a quote that says that your sad days will pass, and so will your happy days, because you never know which moment will last for a long time.

Rewa’s life mantra is to be humble and down-to-earth. She always keeps herself motivated by doing what she loves.

In her spare time, Rewa likes to read, play basketball, go gyming, cook, and talk to her friends.

To the youth, Rewa imparts a resounding piece of advice: to dream ambitiously and muster the courage to pursue those dreams. She emphasizes that dwelling on the fear of failure can impede progress toward desired life goals.
