Renu started looking after the garment store started by her father-in-law when he fell ill. Renu faced some setbacks, but never gave up and each time rose up again with renewed spirit.

Renu Mehta has been looking after Paridhan - a complete garment shop, since 2004.

Renu Mehta was born in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh. She was raised by her maternal uncle as her father estranged himself from her mother. And she considers her maternal uncle as her father only.

Renu says that after her marriage, she settled in Udaipur at her in-laws’ house. Her father-in-law started Paridhan -a garment store. When he fell ill, Renu started looking after the store.

Talking about setbacks in her life, Renu shares that in 1997, a fire broke out at the store and she incurred a huge loss and hit rock bottom. She gathered herself and started again. She was getting back on track and again a fire broke out at the store and it brought her to the ground. Instead of feeling disheartened, she worked to build up the store again. Now, she is doing fine and recovering from the losses incurred.

Renu says that during Covid she had to stay at her home only. But when the restrictions were eased out, on the first day of opening up her store it experienced a huge footfall of the customers. She says that the pandemic was good for her both on a personal and professional front.

To anyone who wants to do a garment business, Renu advises that always be honest in your business and interact with your customers nicely. Besides, you should upgrade your collection of garments as per the changing needs and demands of your customers.

Renu thinks education is important in life, but practical knowledge is also important. When she came into the garment business she did not know anything about it, but with time she learnt how to deal with distributors and place orders.

Renu says that she has shown leadership qualities from her school days. She would always come first in debate and other competitions. She claims that she knows how to get a job done.

Renu wakes up early in the morning and does Yoga. After doing her household chores, she comes to her store. At her store, she knows how to instruct her staff and when to be hard on them.

Renu considers her mother and mother-in-law as her inspirations. She says that her mother-in-law is very old and still does all her chores herself. Whenever Renu feels low she takes inspiration from her.
