Reemly Mohanty is a Fashion Designer who is working hard to leave impressions of Odisha on her fabrics and impressions of her work on her clients.

Reemly is the Founder and Designer at Reemly’s Design Studio located in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha.

She started her venture in July of 2011 and worked for a decade in the Fashion and Design realm. Reemly is an Accounts student but soon realised her inclinations towards Arts and Fashion. She started her Design Studio with three machines and four craftspersons in a rented space. Today, she has eighteen craftsmen and a manufacturing unit handled by forty-five people. Initially, it was hard for Reemly, but she is grateful to have come a long way with the support and encouragement of her family and friends.

Reemly shares that in the beginning, it was hard to pay the workers. Social media was not used actively by the people, so the only means to propagate the business was the word of mouth publicity. However, word of mouth advertising helped her, and she started getting orders and the trust of her clients. Reemly focuses on Odisha’s handloom and fabrics and promotes the art forms of Odisha in her designs and bridal wear. Her work is popular in Odisha as well as in other states.

Reemly was born and brought up in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha. She completed her schooling and graduated in the city, and at the young age of twenty-one, she started her entrepreneurial journey.

Reemly says the Covid outbreak affected the weavers immensely as there were no local or foreign customers. Hence, she started promoting the local weavers through social media and conducted successful fundraisers too. It helped the weavers and brought them customers, even during the pandemic. Reemly’s studio also faced challenges and could only deliver a percentage of online orders. It became difficult to pay the staff, and few craftsmen returned to their hometowns. Thus, the pandemic brought hard times for her business. However, she enjoyed spending time with her one-year-old son and loved cooking and eating with her family.

Reemly believes that starting an enterprise involves risk. But, she calls her journey a roller-coaster ride with many sweet and sour experiences. Dealing with various clients and keeping oneself in a good mental state is the daily win. She feels that her experiences have helped her manage tough situations.

Reemly loves to observe people and absorb the good from them. Her boyfriend-now-husband has been a constant support in her entrepreneurial journey. She believes that everyone needs a little push in life to go ahead and do what they’re good at.

Reemly listens to music, does gardening, cooks and spends quality time with family as part of her leisure activities.

She advises the younger generation to take suggestions from everyone, but follow your heart and do what you feel is right for you.
