Reema is working to create a home for women away from their motherland, India. With a group to support and help, Reema feels that women should come forward and lead the world.

Reema Mahajan is the founder of Indian Women in Dubai (IWD) which is a community of forty thousand Indian women living in Dubai.

Reema was born and brought up in Chandigarh. Talking about her childhood, Reema says that she only focused on playing and other activities till the 7th standard. After that, she got a bit serious about her studies and life.

Reema has done Chemical Engineering from IIT-Delhi and MBA from IIM -Bangalore. She has worked as a management consultant for twelve years. After moving to Dubai, she thought of connecting with Indian women like her and created a small group with her friends there. Reema says that is how IWD started.

Talking about the COVID-19 pandemic, Reema calls her group a Covid baby as they expanded to a great level after shifting online. Now they do many seminars and zoom meetings, sharing issues and solutions and sticking together in hard times. Reema also feels that COVID brought a technological reformation as everything shifted online and we got a new way of working and connecting to people.

Sharing her struggles, Reema says that establishing your own brand has many operational struggles. Coordinating with forty thousand women and answering their queries requires a lot of work.

Reema shares that there are two quotes that inspire her the most and those are:“When women support each other, incredible things happen.” and,“One woman can make a difference but together we can change the world.”

Talking about her role models, Reema says that her father came from a very humble background and created a life for his family after much struggle and that is why he is her role model. He taught Reema about community values and the basics of building a business.

Reema advises women entrepreneurs to follow their passion and stay honest in their work.

If given a Time Machine, Reema would like to go back in time and tell her corporate-working-self to have more fun in life.

Reema opines that experience helps in shaping a person and education provides a base in the initial years. She feels that both are important but experience has a little edge over education.

Reema likes to spend her leisure time with her kids and family. She likes traveling and dancing.
