Co-owner of the iconic Natraj Dining Hall, Ravindra has also served the people of Udaipur as Chairman of the Nagar Parishad and the UIT. He is a renowned name in the politics of the region and has played a major role in the development of Udaipur.

Ravindra Shrimali is the co-owner of the Natraj Hotel and Dining Hall in Udaipur.

Ravindra was born and raised in Udaipur itself. He did his primary education at Vidya Niketan School, and the values imbibed there still resonate in his actions. Thereafter, he completed a B.Com. and an LLB in 1980. He took part in various sports activities and was very active in student politics throughout his college life. In addition to that, he was an active member of the Jan Sangh from a very early age, following in the footsteps of his father.

Ravindra says that gaining such prominence in the restaurant industry and establishing Natraj Dining Hall as a household name was not easy. The journey had started in 1958, when his father started the ‘Lakshmi Vilas Bhojnalaya’  at Surajpole and, consecutively, the ‘Natraj Lodge’ in New Bapu Bazar. He recalls his father being very courteous and hospitable with their guests, and that instilled in him the quality of working for others. After completing his graduation in 1980, Ravindra started helping his father in the business, working sixteen to seventeen hours a day.

Ravindra had always kept his passion for social work and political activity alive. And because of his altruistic behaviour and dedication towards the Bharatiya Janata Party, he was elected as the ward president in 1992, and in 1994, he was elected as the councillor of ward number seven, a post which he held for three consecutive terms until 2004. Thereafter, he was selected for the post of ‘Sabhapati’ of the city council from 2004 to 2009, where he worked tirelessly for hours on end to beautify and develop the city. Be it cleaning the Dudh Talai lake of Udaipur from the bottom after a period of 400 years or planting more than 35,000 trees to beautify and safeguard the city from pollution, Ravindra has achieved many incredible goals. He has also worked towards the development of the Khelgaon, the beautification of the Gulab Bagh, and many other landmarks of the city. It was his significant contribution that led to Udaipur topping a 2009 survey listing the world's ten most beautiful cities.

Talking about his struggles, Ravindra says that he faced many challenges in his journey but always got the support of his family. He believes that it is important to face the struggles and try to overcome them. One should have strong determination, principles, and a feeling of service to face the hardships.

Sharing his COVID experiences, Ravindra says that the pandemic was a tough time for all. But at that time, he and his team members worked for the welfare of the people by providing them with food and other basic necessities. They also distributed masks and sanitizers among the people.

Comparing education and experience, Ravindra says that education is very important in every field to make correct decisions in life. Education is helpful in achieving success. On the other hand, experience can be gained through interest and dedication toward learning things.

Ravindra’s role models are his father and his teacher, as he learned a lot from them. In the field of politics, he admires Bhanu Kumar Shastri and Gulab Chand Kataria and always gets their guidance. He learned to be honest in any situation in life from his father.

He pleads with everyone to plant trees in order to make the environment and society clean and healthy.
