Coming from a simple background, Ravi overcame all adversities to become Assistant Professor in an engineering college.

Ravi Teli is from Udaipur. He did his schooling from a private and then a government school with Science - Maths. As he was good in Maths, he opted for engineering for his higher studies. He did B.E. in Electronics from Shrinathji Institute of Technology in Nathdwara.

Initially, Ravi struggled as he was from the Hindi medium and from RBSE background. But, as time progressed he improved and completed his B.E. in 2009. After that he worked in two-three companies but his heart was in teaching. He joined Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies-GITS in udaipur as a lecturer. He kept on adding skills and upgrading his education and went on to complete B.Tech. and M.tech. Currently he is an assistant professor in GITS.

Ravi remembers how he was afraid of his father when he was young. He also remembers the hardships when he had to go to Nathdwara daily for his college studies by bus. His father paid his fees up to B.E. but after that he himself earned and managed his higher education himself.

Ravi considers his father his role model as his father was a hard working man. He worked as a simple helper in a dairy and also looked after their agriculture. Then he got a job as a peon in the MPUAT where with his hard work and commitment he progressed to LDC.

For youngsters desiring to join the engineering teaching field, Ravi advises that they must first complete M.Tech and also they must have a required number of publications as per AICTE’s criteria. They shall also have good teaching skills.

Ravi opines that education gives you a good base to start your career. But, after that you build on that through your experience and progress in life.

Even if Ravi is taken back in a time machine he would not like to change anything as he loves what he is doing.

When asked about his experience of the Covid times, Ravi says that the lockdown period taught us many things. It emphasised the importance of savings. He had more time to spend with his family and learnt to cook many dishes.

Ravi’s message for everyone is that go on walking and as you progress new paths will emerge.
