Rashmi Ranjan hails from Bhubaneswar, Orissa. He is an IT professional and holds close to twelve years of experience working in the IT sector. Currently, he is working as an Associate Manager at a leading investment bank in Pune.
Throughout his professional career, Rashmi has worked with many IT companies of the likes of Wipro, Capgemini etc. and it rendered him opportunities to work in varied sectors like healthcare, pharmaceuticals and manufacturing.
Rashmi shares that he was a notorious kid and not so studious and disciplined growing up. But with time he became disciplined and learnt to shoulder responsibilities.
Talking about struggles in his life, Rashmi shares that he graduated from college in 2008, and at that time the Global Recession of 2008 hit the world and due to that, he couldn’t get a job in his campus placements. He started working with Wipro BPO and it entailed that he slogged and it became quite challenging for him. But he kept himself up at all times and it groomed him professionally.
Rashmi says that in the light of the Covid pandemic the whole mode of imparting education has shifted to the virtual mode. He advises students that even in this scenario, you should not compromise on learning practical aspects of things and besides you should manage your time well to cover the maximum ground. Furthermore, he says that instead of feeling demotivated owing to it we should focus on positive aspects of the pandemic as it has rendered us more personal time to spend with our families.
Rashmi considers being able to keep moving up the career trajectory and learning curve as his achievement.
Rashmi advises the youth that you should follow your instincts and choose your careers based on your interests and not on the basis of others’ advice. Besides, you should plan out what you are going to achieve five years down the line.
In Rashmi’s opinion, both education and experience are important to grow in your professional career. He says that education helps you get started in your career and then you build upon it thereafter with your experience.
Rashmi acknowledges the fact that he has learnt a lot from his mentors and seniors who helped him grow in his career. He considers his parents as his huge inspiration who taught him to be disciplined and sincere in his endeavours.
If he could go back in time then Rashmi would want to be more serious in his studies and be able to study at premier institutes in the country and land a job at his dream organization.
In his free time, Rashmi likes to watch Netflix. He also likes to work out in the gym and listen to music. He also likes to read books and newspapers to make productive use of his free time.
Rashmi’s life mantra is to be patient and calm in every situation.
