Rashmi Jathan realised her true passion and purpose at the young age of thirty-one and is successfully dancing her way to her dreams.

Rashmi Jathan is a Professional Dancer and Pole Dance Instructor. She owns a studio with the name Rashmi Dance in Mumbai. She has choreographed many television commercials and featured in lots of them. Through her studio, she conducts online and offline Dance and Fitness workshops.

Rashmi says that as a child she was unambitious and only wanted to get married and start a family. She got married at the age of nineteen and after five years of enduring an abusive marriage, she called it quits and moved past that relationship.

Post that phase, she sank into depression and it took her a few more years until she was thirty to realise her calling. At the beautiful age of thirty, she understood that her childhood dream was Dancing and that she should follow it. At thirty-one, she quit her freelancing career of Wedding Photography and joined the Terence Lewis Dance Academy. Then, she did a Zumba Certification course and started her dancing journey.

Rashmi started getting small-scale projects and got the first big project with Indian Idol Kids in 2013. She also choreographed a promotional video for the movie, The Smurf. The Latin dance form was her first love and she started her dance fitness journey and participation in competitions. In 2012, Rashmi won a Silver in Bacchetta Championship. This motivated her immensely to explore Zumba, Bacchetta, Pole Dancing, etc. Rashmi started teaching at the Terence Lewis Academy as a Salsa and Dance Instructor and also started taking her private classes alongside.

When Covid struck, Rashmi decided to convert her home into a studio and start private Pole Dance sessions. She got appreciation and lots of celebrities as students that gave her a better outreach. In the last two years, she has trained almost two hundred students.

Rashmi derives inspiration from her students, as she says. Starting at the age of thirty herself, she feels it has greatly benefited her while motivating her clients and waiving their doubts. Rashmi loves to teach and takes classes for pupils from the age of seventeen up to fifty. She believes in keeping patience and determination to learn a skill. She feels that due to covid she realised how beautiful work from home can be. She also realised the importance of family time. Her bondings and communication with her family became stronger and smoother.

When free, Rashmi likes to spend time with nature and has a healthy routine to inculcate that me-time with nature. She believes in trying out different things to know what one likes the most. Rashmi advises that a disciplined life changes the mindset.

Daily, Rashmi takes out some time to explore ways to grow her business and benefit from her present situation. She also takes out some time to feel grateful for all the blessings in her life.

Rashmi advises the young to avoid shortcuts and always strengthen their basic foundations. She believes in going through the process with patience. She advises the youngsters to appreciate someone’s time and show respect towards it. Rashmi believes that it’s not about how much time we have, it’s how we manage it.

Rashmi feels that age is just a number and shouldn’t come in the way of one’s dreams, aspirations, learnings, and growth. Taking one step at a time and having the patience to see the progress, gives fulfilment and organic success.

Rashmi has battled a bad past, and thus, she encourages everyone to keep patience during the changes, keep moving physically even when the mind is depressed, avoid the fear of failures, and make their progress lists.

The highlight moment of her life is her performance in front of an audience of ten thousand at one of Nuclea’s concerts. Thus, she is happily living her dreams without any regrets.
