Ramesh Paliwal coordinates the administration at the NGO, Astha Sansthan, Udaipur. He joined Astha Sansthan in 1996 and strongly believes in the values and objectives of the organisation.
Ramesh did his schooling in Rishabhdeo - a town 65 km from Udaipur city. But he is settled in Udaipur.
Ramesh says that when he joined Astha Sansthan he did not know what all could be done in the social sector. Prior to joining it, he worked in different fields but didn’t quite like it there. But when he joined the sansthan, he realised that there’s a lot that he could do for people while working here. And he’s been working with the sansthan ever since.
Ramesh worked for a folk art institute initially and then he worked in the Bollywood film industry of Mumbai. He says that he worked in Mumbai for around two years but did not get the satisfaction out of the job that he was looking for. Later when he came to Udaipur, he joined Astha Sansthan and realised that he could impact the lives of people by working here.
Ramesh shares that during the Covid pandemic, the sansthan reached and extended help to the people whom even the government couldn’t reach. The sansthan worked with the government and the administration in the city and created a list of the needy people to be arranged food and shelter for. Ramesh also tried to help the needy in his best capacity.
Ramesh likes to learn new things and meet people. He says that he likes to work in different fields within the social sector and learn new things instead of just working in one field. He gets inspired by the people who could bring about a change in society and others’ lives.
Ramesh shares that the youth today solely focus on materialistic aspects of life. They want to live an ostentatious life. But he advises them that they should earn money but it should not be the end goal of their life. He says that they should work for people too as the good wishes that one gets from serving people can’t be equated with money. Furthermore, he advises that they should have a goal in life and keep working on it till they reach their destination.
