Starting her journey as a crime reporter for the Aaj Tak news channel, Rama has explored different avenues in the field of journalism. Currently, a news editor in Amar Ujala, she also hosts a show, "Adhyatma Ujala," in which she connects spirituality to the modern world.

Rama Solanki is a journalist who has been in this field for 15 years.

Recalling her childhood, Rama says that although she studied in a metropolis, she was always connected to her roots. She belonged to a farmer's family and remembers visiting her grandparents’ house. She was more interested in sports and creative work. She studied at Delhi University and is a triple MA. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Digital Media. She believes it is essential to be updated with the current happenings around the world, and studying helps us develop a comprehensive approach towards things.

Rama shares that when she was studying at Delhi University, she was fond of participating in various programmes and liked communicating with people. One day, her father called her and informed her about the recruitments going on in Aaj Tak. Though she was preparing for the civil service, he told her to apply for it. She qualified and was trained by experts to become a journalist. She started with crime reporting because it interested her the most.

Sharing about her challenges, Rama says that we tend to have unrealistic expectations coming into the television world, but things are not as easy as people think. She too has faced many challenges in her career, but she has learned from them and moved forward.

Rama says that she has learned to separate her personal and public lives. Being a journalist, if their public and personal lives are completely opposite to each other, it might create an imbalance in their life. She advises journalists to stay as they are and never forget humanity in their profession.

Sharing about her achievements, Rama says that she is fortunate enough to have had a good education from her learned teachers. She was working as a main field journalist but was not getting work and had to teach journalism to the students. Those students today have reached good points in their careers and she is proud of them. This proved to be a turning point in her life, as while teaching, she realized that she too should complete her education in the field, pursue a PhD, and continue teaching. Secondly, she advises everyone to be humble and learn from their mistakes.

When asked about her role models, Rama says that her parents were her first gurus, especially her mother, who encouraged her and used to say that everything would be alright. She likes to follow the teachings of Lord Krishna.

For mental peace, Rama likes to read, travel, and observe the people around her. She enjoys gardening too.

Rama’s life mantra is to keep doing better. Start giving what you can and learn even from small things, she advises.
