Rama’s deep value system always encouraged her to help others, be it at her workplace or outside her workplace. She always worked to empower the less-voiced wherever she worked.

Rama Pawar is an AGM-Finance at the Airports Authority of India (AAI), Mumbai.

Rama was born in Mumbai. She grew up in the colony of BARC, Mumbai as her father was posted with BARC. She holds an MBA in Finance.

Talking about her childhood, Rama says that she had a really nice childhood. She got a well-rounded education that focused on achieving excellence in all spheres of life. Her parents were very supportive. She liked socializing with people and being outdoors.

Talking about her professional journey, Rama shares that she initially worked with BARC, Mumbai for about four years and then she joined AAI in Mumbai itself in the finance department there. And it’s been more than twenty-five years since she joined AAI.

Rama shares that at her workplace she always ensured that women employees there had their own voice and knew their rights. She also worked to raise awareness about women's harassment to empower them. Besides, she says that in an organization all the people from the bottom till up in the hierarchy, have different problems. And she always tried her best to redress the problems of all the employees at her workplace to the best she could.

Talking about COVID, Rama says that many people working in her organization caught the virus during the pandemic. Leveraging her network of people she tried her best to help those affected combat the disease.

Talking about her mistakes, Rama says that earlier she would be very aggressive and reactive to things that were not done according to her wishes. However, later when she realized that being aggressive was draining her energy and was distancing people from her, she worked on improving herself and becoming calm. Today, in her organization, people consider her their go-to person for their professional and personal problems, Rama says.

Regarding her achievements, Rama says that being able to do an MBA in Finance, despite having two daughters to take care of, is an achievement for her. Besides, being promoted to AGM-Finance at her workplace is also an achievement for her.

Rama feels that if everyone follows ethical standards of living life in society then our sufferings will be subdued and it will lead to better lives and future for us all.

When asked about her role models, Rama says she considers her mentor who teaches her teachings of Buddha, her role model.

Rama feels that each individual has the potential to do great things in life but the need is to realize that potential and tap into it.

In her spare time, Rama likes to read texts on Buddhism and practice the teachings mentioned therein. She also likes to do Yoga and other physical exercises to relieve her stress.
