Ram Bahadur, a Tattoo Artist Rising From Extremes of Situations and Building a Good Life for His Family

Believing that God has given hands, legs, and brains to work, Ram Bahadur left behind poverty, became a tattoo artist, and wants to fulfill his dreams by fair means.

Ram Bahadur is a tattoo artist in Jammu. His aim is to earn money. He works hard with full dedication for the welfare of his family.

Ram was born in Nepal. His family came to Jammu when he was eight months old. His father was working in a hotel and his mother used to work in homes. He is the eldest one in his family. Ram says that he never went to school or any Anganwadi. He also used to go to work in homes.

Talking about his hardest times, Ram says once he was forced to indulge in begging for one year at Katra Vaishnodevi and that was the toughest time in his life. He was dependent on the donation of the people.

Sharing his struggles, Ram says he worked at many places to fulfill his family's needs. He always had in his mind that he is the eldest son in his family.

When asked about his tattoo journey, shares that when he was working in a tea canteen he used to observe a tattoo artist nearby his tea stall. He asked the tattoo artist to teach him the art but he did not teach him

Ram started to practice on his own. He learned drawing by watching characters made in newspapers. He learned to draw day and night for one year. He collected his hard-earned money and went to Delhi to purchase a tattoo machine. He started making tattoos.

Ram says he started making tattoos in 2018. When his machine gets damaged he repairs it by himself. He always keeps faith in God, thinks of himself as responsible as an elder brother, and does his work to earn money for his younger brothers and sisters.

During Covid, Ram also faced a lot of troubles. His father also had no job. Ram did all kinds of work to get money. Also, he helped all the people nearby his locality.

For all the youngsters, Ram Bahadur says that if you want to do anything in life do it. Simply talking and praising yourself is of no use. He also suggests youngsters to stay away from drug addiction and other intoxicants.

Sharing about his future, Ram says he has many dreams. He wants to go ahead and fulfill his dreams by fair means only.
