Rakhi Sharma Is a Social Activist and CEO at Youth Mobilization for National Advancement. She has been working in this field for the last twenty-two years.
Rakhi works in the field of social welfare, where they run de-addiction programs. They also have shelter homes where they keep women who are homeless. They also work for bringing happiness to the underprivileged poor people. All this work gives Rakhi a lot of pleasure working for this cause.
Recalling her childhood, Rakhi says that her father had a transferable job, so they did not stay in one place for more than two-three years. She says that, due to frequent transfers, she always had to leave her friends back and also her education used to get hampered. She further adds that in a way her childhood was good also as she used to get the opportunity to meet new people, and she has traveled to most of the cities in India and also a few abroad. Her father used to focus more on her education and says that her childhood was pleasurable and fun.
When asked about the challenges she faced during her journey, Rakhi says when she got married she was unable to do any job because of some family situations, so she started to go with her husband who was into social work. She says that in the initial days, it was difficult to work with the addicted people, however, she took it as a challenge and started working with patience. She says that initially they started with awareness programs for addicted people and got a good response. Rakhi adds that she also worked in a jail for some time with addicted criminals which was a challenging job, however, she was highly focused on changing people for good and did her job diligently. After getting a good response from her work, she later started working for needy women on the roads and also helped them find their families.
Regarding her mistakes, Rakhi says that earlier, she used to get very emotional with people, which sometimes made her do wrong things for people. She used to think that she can cure people with emotions, but soon she realized that she needs to balance her emotions with strictness to treat people. And now she has learned from her mistakes and avoids repeating them.
Talking about her role models, Rakhi says that her father is the one for her. She says that her father always encouraged her to do what she liked. She says that setting up an NGO in Bihar is a very challenging thing, but she could do it successfully because of her father. Additionally, her mother and her husband, mother-in-law, kids, and all the people who are around her are also an inspiration for her.
Sharing her life mantra, Rakhi says that she believes that one must be capable enough so that they do not have to be dependent on anybody. She says that if you accept your past without any regrets, handle your present with confidence, and face your future without fear, it will help you to come out strong.
