A hard-working nursing professional, Rakesh Kumar believes in always speaking the truth as he believes that truth always prevails.

Rakesh is currently working as the Hospital In-Charge at GBH American Hospital, Udaipur.

Rakesh originally hails from Sikar. He received his entire formal education in Sikar itself. In 2012, he completed his GNM diploma course.

Rakesh shares that in order to complete his education he had to stay away from his family and often he felt that he had left behind his family but his family members always supported and encouraged him.

After completing the GNM diploma course, he started a job at Mittal Hospital in Sikar itself and there his seniors always guided and mentored him and he worked following his seniors’ guidelines. Then to work with a bigger hospital in 2016, he came to Udaipur and started working at Geetanjali Hospital. He says that Geetanjali Hospital was a four hundred plus beds hospital and he thought he would get to learn a lot working there. He also thought that he would have to start from scratch as it was a big hospital but his seniors over there guided and mentored him and he was able to pick up the job sooner. He was also given the charge of a team leader.

Discussing the Covid pandemic, he says that there were shortages of medical equipment and facilities at the hospital. But as per the guidance of the seniors, he tried to handle the situation. He took all the precautions like wearing a PPE kit at all times and followed the Covid protocol as designed by the government to serve the patients.

To be a nursing professional, Rakesh advises that when you’re on the job, you should never be proud of your position and always guide and treat your subordinates nicely and work along with them as a team member. Besides, you ought to treat patients like your family members and always work in their best interests.

Rakesh thinks that in the nursing profession both education and experience are important. Moreover, sometimes the practical aspects of things are different from the theoretical knowledge and at that time, your experience comes in handy.

He considers his grandfather as his role model and hero. He says that his grandfather always taught him to study and work hard to become a good person and make the family proud of him. Besides, he also acknowledges the support and guidance that he received from his seniors and friends to do better at his job.

If he could go back in time, then Rakesh would want to give more time to his family and friends as he says that being in the nursing profession he barely gets any free time to spend with them.

Rakesh aims to do agriculture  and to rear domestic cattle at his home to be able to eat organic and fresh food.

His life mantra is to never tell a lie and always speak the truth as truth always prevails.  He also says that to be a good person in life we should always make friends with people who are true.
