Coming from a family of farmers, Rajesh wanted to do something unique that would make himself and his family proud. He is currently pursuing his research work and is guiding students to choose the right track. He provides them with positive vibes and proper guidance.

Rajesh Kumar Yadav is a research scholar in the Department of Geography Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur.

Rajesh is originally from Jaipur but has been in Udaipur since 2016. He shares that the geography department of MLSU is the oldest in Rajasthan. After getting himself enrolled in a PhD program, he has learned a lot over here. He has benefited a lot and also learned about remote sensing and GIS techniques, which will be of great use in the coming years.

Talking about the hardships in his life, Rajesh says that his parents were farmers, so their income was quite low. Also, when he took Humanities as a subject, he was criticized a lot because of the poor mindset or taboo among people that Humanities is only taken by backbenchers or students who are weak in their studies. When he enrolled himself for graduation in the same subject, he also faced the same pressure and was pressured a lot by relatives to not opt for this subject. Though he faced many such challenges and suffered from a lack of guidance, he was very determined, so he continued with his decision. During his college days, he participated in NCC and NSS activities.

From all the odd situations, Rajesh learned that hard work will contribute to your growth. Also, if you are determined enough to change your weakness into your strength, and if you successfully complete it, then you can achieve anything and everything in your life.

Rajesh believes that COVID was a very tough time for everyone. Many people lost their businesses, jobs, or ways of earning. He spent the whole lockdown period in Udaipur. He utilized his time and resources by focusing on his research work. He also got connected to his friends.

Rajesh thinks that for a successful career, both education and experience play a great role. We can’t rely on any one of the two, as both go hand in hand. Also, they enhance our quality of life.

Rajesh’s first role model is Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. He really gets inspired by his stories of challenges, hardships, hard work, and success. Dr. Kalam was a true leader, so Rajesh gets motivated to imbibe leadership skills in him as well. And the second person is MS Dhoni. From him, he got to learn that challenges will go your way, and with that, criticism will also come, but one has to keep patience, deal with all the criticism in a healthy way, and with that, move forward. Also, his decision-making skills inspire him a lot.

Rajesh’s life mantra is hard work and smart work, both of which are very important. Smart work gives us proper direction. Self-introspection is a must; one should also deal with criticism positively and always try to improve.

For people interested in joining his field, Rajesh suggests they be passionate enough. With that, one should be focused and goal-oriented. He believes that research is a very good field to opt for as a career. It develops our scientific temperament.
