Rajesh was fascinated by theater plays from a young age and, despite having a politicized environment at home, he struggled hard to become a successful actor. He provides a platform to budding artists through his NGO along with running his own production house.

Rajesh Mishra is a Theater Artist. He also works as a villain in TV serials and movies. As of today, he runs a production house as well as an NGO named Kala Kriti Kendra in Mumbai in memory of legendary Kathak Artist, Sitara Devi.

Rajesh hails from Bhagalpur, Bihar. Alongside school and college, he continued to do theater in Bihar. He says that his father wanted to see him become an IAS Officer or a doctor or an engineer. With this ideology, his father sent him to Delhi for further studies. It served as a golden opportunity for him, as he was all set to join the theater, keeping his IAS preparation aside. However, he could not join it due to a lack of money. As a result, he ended up doing his graduation in Hotel Management from IHM Pusa, New Delhi.

Soon after that, Rajesh got a job as a bar in-charge at a reputed hotel and made good money out of it. Everything was going well but suddenly his father passed away. As a result, he had to quit his lucrative job and go to Bihar to take care of his family. After settling everything in a year, he dived into the field of acting. For that, he did a one-year diploma in Acting from Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts in Delhi. Due to his past good experiences in theater, he started getting good roles and in no time he got to join NSD’s Repertory Company.

There, Rajesh got an opportunity to work with veteran directors of the country and to perform in big plays in almost every city of the country through Repertory. His struggling journey to becoming an actor landed him in Mumbai. He struggled a lot to enter Hindi cinema. However, he got rejected everywhere and so he backtracked from his intentions. But soon he started getting work in Bhojpuri films and very soon, he got established as a villain. There was no looking back after that and soon, he started his own production house. He achieved heights and going forward, he even established an NGO cultural center called ‘Kala Kriti Kendra’ in Mumbai.

Recollecting his childhood memories, Rajesh says that he comes from a typical Zamindar family in Bihar, wherein there was an atmosphere of bullets, ammo, and guns in the house. Despite being brought up in such an environment, he was interested in acting and started doing theater in Bihar from a young age. Starting with performing in the plays organized on Diwali Puja, Kali Puja, etc. he gradually started directing plays as well. Along with acting, he was also fond of playing outdoor games like the game of tipcat, cricket, etc.

On being asked about his sources of inspiration, Rajesh says that he considers time and life experiences as his biggest inspirations, with the help of which he could reach this point today.

Regarding his achievements, Rajesh says that the day he fulfilled his father’s dream of making his brother an IFS Officer, was his biggest accomplishment.

Between education and experience, Rajesh opines that to become a good actor, you must get a degree or diploma from a big institute like NSD in order to learn the technical nuances and catch the pace of progress in your field. But experience is equally important along with formal education, for which you should assist big directors to get your career uphill.

Rajesh likes to spend his free time meditating and taking the works of veteran artists to the masses.

Advising the youth who want to make a career in acting, Rajesh says that you should be determined to become what you want to be. He adds that if you have taken the resolution of becoming an actor, then no one can stop you from becoming one, and further, you should have faith in this entire process. Along with this, your speech, appearance, expressions, and nature matter a lot in this journey for you to reach your destination, he adds.
