Devoted service towards community should be the essence of one’s life
Devoted service towards community should be the essence of one’s life
Rajesh Bhai Mehta, through his work of social service, has emerged as an example for our new generation.
Born in Malpur, Gujarat, Rajesh Bhai shifted to Udaipur in 1979.
The list of his association with social serving groups is rather impressive: Secretary, Rajasthan Gujarati Society, Senior Vice-President, Akhil Rajasthan Gujarati Samaj, Executive Committee Member, Vishwa Gujarati Samaj, President, Antarrashtriya Pushtimargiya Vaishnav Parishad, Rajasthan, Sampark Pramukh, Bharat Vikas Parishad and so on. Along with this, he is also associated with the Vishwa Vaishnav Parishad.
Rajesh had seen tough times during his childhood. After major losses in his father’s business, they moved to the brokerage field. He remembers that there were times when the family would not be sure of getting two meals. Today, he lives a decent life and credits all to his dedication to helping others. When one gives to the nation, he serves the mighty he believes.
For him, his life is all about taking care of the poor and helping those in need. It gives him pleasure and satisfies his inner conscience when he sees his life being spent for others and social work. From giving monetary help to the economically backward to providing food and medical care to the poor, he has worked in different fields and on the field. During Covid, as a member of Vishva Vaishnav Parishad, he helped in distributing 200 food packets to interior rural areas for around 20 days.
‘Seva’ and ‘Samarpan’ and ‘Niswarth Bhaav’ are tools that he thinks every youth should incorporate into his life. He advises the coming generation to do community service every day. It will make better human beings and will help society heal and flourish in a positive way, he adds.
He considers Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his maternal grandfather, his ideals. Their relentless dedication towards their work inspires him the most. He remembers the saying of his grandfather that if you have five rupees in your pocket, spend only three rupees and you will never go broke in your life.
He has only one message for the generation to come and that is of service. He wants them to join the community, work for the community with the feeling of ‘Samarpan’ or devotion.
