Rajesh is a painting artist who got inspiration to enter this field from his father and grandfather. After learning from different renowned artists and working at different places, Rajesh learned the basics of his art and gradually became better with time.

Rajesh Kumar Kumawat is a miniature artist who has been working in this field for the past thirty-five years.

Talking about his childhood, Rajesh says that he hails from a rural background. His father worked in the RSEB, but was also a painting artist himself. Rajesh used to look at his work and the process of painting and got inspired to come into this field. He was not very good in studies and initially studied only until the tenth standard, but restarted his studies later in life.

Rajesh shares that his father once took him to meet Kripa Singh Shekhawat, and he was mesmerized by his blue pottery art. He explained many things about the field to Rajesh. After that, he met his own guru, N. L. Verma, who was a maestro himself. Under him, Rajesh trained for about three years. Rajesh shares that he used to advise him to not use the eraser at all and taught him to draw the anatomy of a human body in detail. He started learning miniature art from him only. He also learned art for a year under Vedpal 'Bannu'. After that, he joined Mangalam Arts and feels that his learning continued even further there.

Talking about his mistakes, Rajesh says that mistakes help us progress in our lives. He feels that not pursuing studies after failing his secondary examinations was a mistake, which he rectified later in life. He completed his secondary education through correspondence, and then completed his senior secondary education at Darbar School, Jaipur. He also took admission to the Rajasthan School of Arts. However, he could not complete his course there due to some family responsibilities.

Rajesh says that when he was in Jaipur completing his schooling, he started taking part in different competitions organized by different platforms, like Jaipur Samaroh, Upbhokta Manch, and Rotary Club.

Rajesh further adds that after working in Mangalam Arts for five years, he worked in Narayan Niwas Palace for a year and then started working as an independent artist. In 2008, he met a person who was much inspired by his art and asked him to develop paintings for his gallery; along with other paintings, Rajesh also did eleven paintings for the gallery based on his own childhood, depicting general childhood activities.

Rajesh says that then he got a chance to be a part of a workshop at Lalit Kala Academy, Delhi, and then in Lucknow. In 2022, he participated in a workshop at the Jawahar Kala Kendra and then worked with a senior artist from Mumbai to make forty-five paintings on the topic of pollution for the National Mumbai Art Gallery.

Talking about his role models, Rajesh says that his parents and all the gurus he has learned from are his role models in life.

Advising aspiring artists, Rajesh says that a good artist should also have a clear heart. He also advises having a good focus on health.

Rajesh says that he walks for about forty-five minutes daily and also practices yoga to keep his mind free of stress.

When asked about his life mantra, Rajesh says that defeat or failure are inevitable parts of life and are very important for ensuring success in life.
