Rajat Kasbe is a protein supplements shop owner from Pune who also runs a gym.
Rajat says that his journey started when he joined a gym to lose weight. After working out for four months, he and his friend thought of starting something in the same field and hence set up a protein and supplements shop.
Rajat says that around this time only he got many offers to join a gym as a trainer and he started working as a personal trainer at one of the gyms nearby his home. Rajat says that what he trains is quite different from normal gym training. He is into ‘Strength and Conditioning’ which is a mix of weightlifting, powerlifting and cross fit.
Rajat shares that he himself is training in Powerlifting and has won two medals in the 67 Kg category in 2018 and 2019.
Rajat shares that initially he had to face many problems. All of a sudden, his father and brother fell sick. Also, financial problems started. His college was also going on and he was surrounded by many issues simultaneously. At this time only he took loans and borrowed money to open his shop which was also a big investment. He was also running his own newspaper agency and used to get up at four in the morning and go there to get things started for his vendors. Rajat says that six months after setting up his shop was a very tough time for him.
Rajat says that during the COVID time he did not face much difficulty at a personal level. He used to home deliver orders and was also training clients who were comfortable in coming to the gym. However, he had to face overall difficulty as paying salaries and managing rent of the place was a big task. All his savings were also getting exhausted.
Rajat advises newcomers who want to train to be receptive to suggestions. He feels that they should ask their trainers about everything and never let ego corrupt their minds.
For those who want to start their own gym, Rajat advises them to first work at a gym and understand the working of it. One should know about customer demands, footfall scenarios etc. before making this huge investment.
To those who want to become trainers in this field, Rajat opines they should learn as much as possible and train as much as possible. He feels that half knowledge is very dangerous in this field.
In his free time, Rajat likes to play sports like football and cricket. He is also a shopaholic and loves shopping.
