Raj Tilak is not highly educated. He completed his school education, first from Rajasthan Mahila Parishad School and then from Guru Gobind Singh School.
He says he got attracted towards magic when he went to see a magic show by the famous magician Senior Mangal when he was in the eighth class in 1984. He wanted to learn magic. He requested Mangal Senior and then Mangal Junior to teach him magic but to no avail. Finally, he went to an Udaipur magician Ganga Shankar Lakshkar who was known as Jadugar Tanatan. He was Raj Tilak’s guru and taught him magic.
Talking about his struggles, Raj Tilak says he underwent a lot of struggle in the beginning. His magic guru subjected him to a lot of hard physical work just to test his willingness to learn magic. He even worked as a tea salesman and worked at a tent house to earn his living but he never left magic. Gradually he learned the tricks and became a full fledged magician. He had the first show of his life in his school and was encouraged by the teachers.
Raj Tilak also conducts classes for children on the theme ‘Skill Development with Magic’. He claims that if any child is shy, hesitant or fearful, he can make the child smart and confident in just 15 days in his classes.
Sharing his achievements, Raj Tilak says he has been felicitated by many organisations for his art. He was awarded the ‘Kala Ratna’ award in the annual magicians’ pageant.
Raj Tilak has also formed a group called ‘Prajapati Yuva Social Group’ which regularly organises blood donation camps and does other social service activities.
For youngsters interested in joining the magic field his advice is that they should have determination and passion to succeed in this field.
Raj Tilak thinks that education is important in life. He says for a magician, knowledge of spoken English is also necessary.
If he is put into a Time Machine and sent back in time, Raj Tilak would like to learn more magic tricks early on in his life so that he may bring smiles on the faces of the spectators.
Remembering his childhood,Raj Tilak says he was very naughty in his childhood. He enjoyed his childhood in his village by climbing trees and teasing people.
Regarding leadership, Raj Tilak says he is not a born leader but now he can handle thousands of spectators when he is on stage.
Raj tilak thinks that the Covid pandemic has given us lessons that we must save money for hard days and value our families.
