A businessman, Rahul thinks that an entrepreneur needs to wake up feeling motivated and psyched up to do what they do. If they lack the zeal, then they won’t be able to survive in their business in the longer run.

Rahul Tak is a businessman based in Udaipur. He owns Rajasthan Tours and Travels, Rajasthan Tours and Events, and Badigarh Palace Resort and Spa.

Rahul was born and raised in Udaipur city. He completed his schooling in Udaipur itself.

Talking about his childhood, Rahul says that he was not a bright student academically. He had to change five schools. He struggled to pass his tenth-grade examinations. And it made him disinterested in studying further. However, he says that he would always be fascinated by the lifestyles of the tourists visiting the city. He then thought of becoming a tour and travel guide. Besides, during his summer vacations, he would do odd jobs like working at a clothing shop, handicraft shop, etc. to earn money and take care of his expenses on his own.

Rahul shares that he would easily earn good money guiding the tourists in the city and was only fourteen then. He says he always loved his work and never had to do his job forcibly. Later, he went to Jaipur to visit the city and from there he got the idea of taking  the visitors on a tour of Udaipur on his own bus. For that, he contacted many travel agents to spread the word about him.

Later, Rahul went to Mumbai to work, when he was told that the city values talent more than any formal educational degree. He founded Rajasthan Tours and Travels, his own travel company. Later he made a website for his travel company. He also started an event management company to organize events for corporate companies. He then started a resort to facilitate a stay for the clients he would organize events for. Thereafter, he started a restaurant in the city for people to dine at.

Rahul shares that his parents were oblivious of him working as a tourist guide. But when one of the members of the group he was working with was found involved in criminal activity, his parents got to know about it and his father called him to his ancestral village. He would commute to the city from his village for his school daily. But later he requested his father to let him go back to the city on the promise that he would do anything but guide tourists.

Rahul says that when his father passed away, he didn’t have enough savings to do something of his own. However, his acquaintances in the city helped him by lending him money for his business needs. And slowly from a travel company to an event management company to a resort to a restaurant, he built his businesses.

Rahul acknowledges the hard work that his staff always put in and says he owes whatever he is today to his staff and their labor only.

Talking about his mistakes, Rahul says that everyone commits mistakes. He says that he trusted some people blindly in his business which was a mistake for him.

To aspiring event managers and tourist guides, Rahul advises them to work under someone initially to win the trust of people as these are very responsible jobs and then they can start something of their own as starting an event management company or a travel company requires minimal investment initially. Besides, he advises them never to trust people blindly and to limit their circle of people.

In his spare time, Rahul likes to do cycling and gymming. Besides, he also likes to travel to places and interact with people there to understand the problems that they face in their businesses and personal lives.

Rahul’s message to people is to always believe in yourself. Never take any shortcut to success. Love doing what you do and things will fall into place automatically.
