Rahul originally hails from Bikaner but is settled in Delhi for the past few years where he runs his own dance academy by the name Disha Dance Academy.
Rahul was born in Jodhpur at his maternal place. He was an average student academically but would participate in extracurricular activities at school with vigor.
Rahul shares that during summer vacations, when he would be at his home only, his friends would attend classes as per their hobbies. When his friends nudged him, he too started attending dance classes.
Rahul says that he went to Pune to his maternal uncle’s place so that he could give his dancing career a new direction. There, he would participate in dance performances that would be held in malls of the city. Later when he grew up a bit older, he realized that it was the time to take his dancing career to newer heights. And he had to choose between Mumbai and Delhi. He chose Delhi and thus he took the first big step in shaping his career as a dancer.
However, Rahul says that moving to Delhi entailed its own set of struggles for a few months initially. Hailing from Rajasthan and landing in a cosmopolitan city like Delhi came as a cultural shock to him. He doubted himself as to whether he would be able to adjust in the new culture. Nonetheless, he started off with his own dance academy in the city. Later, he also had to struggle to pay for his expenses in the city as initially he was not able to get many students for his dance classes.
Talking about Covid, Rahul says that during the pandemic when other people were changing their professions owing to the havoc the pandemic wreaked, he believed in himself and just hung in there. Finding an opportunity in adversity, he started online dancing classes.
Rahul considers his parents as his role models. He says that he learned a lot from his late father and he still follows the principles taught by his father. Besides, he tries to learn from everyone who does something transformational.
Rahul thinks that your formal Education equips you with knowledge and makes you aware. But informal Education is something that you learn with your Experience.
To the youth of today, Rahul advises them to keep pace with changing times and to use social media productively.
