Rahul Meghwal belongs to Salera Kalan, a small village in Mavli Tehsil of Udaipur. He did his early education from his village itself and then he took admission to Fateh School, Udaipur. He says that when he was in 9th std, he dreamt of going into IIT and so he had opted for Science-Maths in 11th & 12th class. He did his B.Tech from Government College of Bharatpur. Thereafter he did jobs in Software Development companies of Mumbai and later he entered into the education field.
The name of Rahul’s institute is Gyan Jyoti Seva Sansthan and it has been running since 2014. The only motive of this Sansthan is to fulfil the dreams of those children who come out of the villages.
Rahul says that to fulfil his dream of going to IIT, he tried hard to get admission to a private coaching institute and also requested them that due to bad financial condition of his family, he should be taught at a nominal cost but he was thrown out of there. So that day, he decided that to fulfil the dreams of the poor children, one day he would build such an institute where those children would be given free education and eventually, he entered into this segment.
Rahul says that in the initial days, he did not even had a place to open his institute, but at that time he used to teach at a private school, so he requested that school’s director to let him use that space after school and hence he got a room on rent and he started his journey of providing free education for competitive exams. Gradually the number of students kept on increasing and the days of his struggle continued. When he started running short of space, he started taking classes in a park and even then the students used to come with the same passion.
Talking about role models, Rahul says that everybody who dreamt big with small eyes and never cheated on themselves and their family after dreaming big, are his role models. But his biggest role model is Swami Vivekanad because there were many people who tried to bring him down but he never gave up.
Rahul suggests to the young generation who are preparing for competitive or government exams that no work is small or big, only your deeds are important. He says that even after a lot of hard work, if you don’t get a government job, then you don’t have to be disappointed at all, instead try to make up for your shortcomings and try even harder. So he advises that if your willpower is strong, then all the storms and adversities that come to you, will end because you are determined.
Rahul says that before the onset of Covid, his classes were running very well and in full swing but once Covid arrived, he had to shut down his institute as per the guidelines. He says that because of going online, he lost his connection and bond with students because of which they became demotivated. But slowly they got used to online classes and things went well afterwards.
