Besides working in a government job, Rahul also works to follow his passion for filmmaking to produce content that can exude timelessness.

Rahul Joshi has been in the field of filmmaking for the past five years now.

Rahul hails from a village near Chawand in Udaipur.

Talking about his childhood, Rahul says that he spent his entire childhood in his village itself. From the beginning, he had been interested in writing and would keep a diary. Besides, he would also write short stories, etc. He pursued writing as a hobby until he finished high school.

During his bachelors, Rahul thought of sharing his writing work with others. He approached many film directors with his short stories but they all showed no interest in making any film based on the stories he wrote. That’s when he decided to make his own short films. And in his pursuit as a film director, he has made more than five short films, Rahul says.

Talking about his struggles, Rahul says that when he took to filmmaking, initially, he had to struggle a lot. He says filmmaking is an art that requires synergistic efforts and one alone can’t do much. He did not have his own team of videographers, cameramen, etc., and owing to that he faced challenges initially. Besides, he also had to face budgetary challenges in making his films.

To aspiring filmmakers, Rahul advises them never to compare themselves with established filmmakers who have all the resources. Instead, they should just do their best with whatever resources they have at their disposal. Besides, he advises them to take to filmmaking only if they are solely interested in it and not for glamor. Furthermore, he advises them never to fear making mistakes as they will learn a lot from their mistakes.

When asked about his role models, Rahul says that there are many actors who inspire him to do filmmaking. To name a few, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Irfan Khan, and Pankaj Tripathi are his role models.

Rahul thinks that, especially in the past two years, there have been a few drastic changes in the film industry owing to the rise of OTT platforms which have given an impetus to independent filmmakers.

Rahul is of the opinion that apart from having talent there are many aspects of one’s personality that make one a successful person. He says patience, always remaining positive in life, and consistency in efforts are some of the factors that determine one’s success.

When he is not doing anything, Rahul likes to brainstorm as to what new themes he can make his films on.
