Ragini Sharma, a renowned lawyer, writer, poet, teacher, and yoga expert, has always been a strong supporter of women's empowerment and equal opportunities for everyone. Even though she faced challenges like societal pressure and limited resources, she has remained committed to promoting education for women, especially in rural areas.
As a lawyer, Ragini actively counsels women to be aware of their rights and to not feel marginalised in a male-dominated society. She has independently organised multiple campaigns and supported various organisations dedicated to empowering women.
Ragini began her professional journey as a teacher and has been a dedicated advocate for women's empowerment, particularly for working women, ever since. She firmly believes in equal opportunities and acceptance for both men and women. Despite societal norms, she pursued her LLB after marriage, challenging traditional expectations. She emphasises that education should not be limited to specific fields, which is why she pursued her LLB.
Naturally, Ragini faced a lot of problems when she started her career as a female lawyer. The nature of her job involved regular interactions with criminals and law enforcement authorities, which clashed with societal norms for women in India. Despite all the odds, she persevered and emerged as a successful lawyer. Her journey was guided by a straightforward motto: staying true to the path of honesty and determination.
Ragini completed her schooling in her village, where she was the only girl in her class. Since childhood, her family had been supportive of her dreams, particularly her desire to pursue higher education. Despite facing various obstacles, including societal pressure and limited resources, she was determined to receive the best education possible. Later on, she became one of the few women in her village to enrol in college.
From the very beginning, Ragini has strongly believed in equal rights for women to receive education and has actively promoted this belief. Despite progress in including women in the education system, she has observed a large number of women who remain unaware of their rights. As a result, she has been deeply involved in advocating the significance of education, particularly among women in rural areas.
Thirty years down the line, Ragini is currently a renowned lawyer, writer, poet, teacher, and yoga master. To have achieved this amount of success, she went through several hurdles but never lost sight of her goals. She has always been highly optimistic, clinging to the faith that she will achieve what she dreams of. Even in times of adversity, she exuded confidence and remained hopeful for better outcomes.
Currently a celebrated member of her community, Ragini is determined to continue her work as a defence lawyer. She finds immense joy in the prospect of meeting new people daily, engaging with them, and, most importantly, addressing their concerns. What she loves most about her job is the ability to make a tangible difference in people's lives, staying updated on new laws, and applying them in her practice.
Even during the pandemic, Ragini remained committed to her dedication to her work. She organised various online sessions to lift people's spirits through digital media platforms. Additionally, she conducted online yoga and meditation classes and extended her support to the less fortunate by donating food and clothing as a representative of the Art of Living community.
When asked about her role models in her professional life, Ragini says she doesn't have a specific individual she looks up to. Instead, she draws inspiration from her own experiences and the lessons she's learned along the way. She believes that there is a divine force that has consistently guided her to make the right decisions in her life.
Ragini has long been inspired by the teachings of Shri Shri Ravishankar, particularly the value of taking ownership of one's actions. She wholeheartedly embraces this principle, always ready to assume responsibility and fulfil her duties to the best of her capacity, both in her professional and personal lives.
Offering guidance to the aspiring law students, Ragini advises them to stay updated on new cases and study them thoroughly. She emphasises the importance of approaching their work with a spirit of service, viewing it as an opportunity to help others. She suggests studying important past cases as a guide for handling future cases. She encourages students to be serious and sincere in their approach to the profession.
She shares that when she's at the office, her focus is solely on work, often leading her to forget about her family. Conversely, when she's with her family, work takes a backseat in her mind. She stresses the importance of giving undivided attention to whatever one is presently engaged in, whether it's work or spending time with loved ones.
Given the opportunity to revisit her past using a time machine, Ragini expresses a desire to relive her childhood. She longs to cherish those precious moments spent with her parents and siblings once again.
Besides her work, Ragini also teaches meditation and yoga. She is a writer who enjoys composing poetry. Cooking for her family and spending quality time with her loved ones are activities that bring her joy and fulfilment.
Ragini's life mantra is to enjoy the beauty of life that has been bestowed upon us. She advocates embracing acceptance, letting go of concerns about others' opinions, and living a stress-free life.
