Despite being born into an illiterate and farming family, Raghuraj had big dreams for himself and his family and with his determination to fulfill them, he ventured into business and is successfully running it along with doing good to the people associated with him.

Raghuraj Singh is the Director and Co-Founder of Pumpkin Foodworks Pvt. Ltd. in Indore. He runs cloud kitchens in agritech and food streams under this company.

Raghuraj hails from Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh. He turned towards becoming an entrepreneur after completing his engineering. In the absence of further guidance and experience in running a business, he collected much information after enough research and when he met his mentor. Then, on his advice, he published a book called ‘How to Start a Business in India’ which became quite popular amongst youngsters.

After a lot of thought and considering his risk-taking ability, Raghuraj entered the food sector with his roommates because Indore is known as the Food Capital of India. In 2018, his partners left the company and since then he has been running it single-handedly.

Recalling his childhood, Raghuraj says that his childhood was spent at his maternal uncle’s house in Uttar Pradesh. He says that because his parents were illiterate, they had kept him in an educated family so that he could have a good upbringing. Owing to this, at a very young age, he had dreamed of becoming a scientist. But after weighing the prospects of a job with that of a business, he decided to become an entrepreneur.

Describing his struggles, Raghuraj says that he faced many challenges during demonetization as people didn’t have money to spend, but his expenses remained the same and so, his business slowed down substantially. Apart from this, he also stumbled a lot due to a lack of business funding, proper financial management, and timely technological advancement.

Regarding his mistakes, Raghuraj says that the biggest mistake of his life is that he trusts people very easily and later suffers a lot. Besides, his second mistake is not defining his terms, roles, etc. in writing with his business partners, which cost him dearly.

Talking about his achievements, Raghuraj says that becoming a successful entrepreneur is no less than an achievement for him. Secondly, making a unicorn company to provide maximum benefits to the farmers and make them self-reliant will be an achievement for him, for which he is constantly working hard.

In his spare time, Raghuraj likes to meditate.

Advising the youth, Raghuraj says that if you want to come into business only to earn money, you should go to jobs because there you will earn even more by gaining a little experience. He adds that it takes a lot of dedication and hard work to make money out of any business while a job can provide you with easy money.

Raghuraj advises everyone that if you have big dreams, you must come into a business, do something innovative and creative and try to make your dreams come true. Further, he says that if you go into a private or government job just because of the fear of taking risks or under social pressure, then it will be your stupidity. Because, if you can employ people under you, then you yourself should not be in a job.
