An aviation staff turned stay-at-home author, Rachna Lakhpati is giving us an account of her life journey by weaving her thoughts, emotions, and experiences together and then writing them down.

Rachna Lakhpati was working with Emirates Airlines in Dubai. She quit her job four years ago and is now settled in Pune.

Rachna was born and brought up in Dubai and received her school and college education there itself.

Rachna shares that it was her childhood dream to work in the aviation industry. She worked really hard to fulfill her dream. She passed her tenth and twelfth board examinations with distinction. Then she did her Bachelors in Travel and Tourism. She says that at that time, a degree in travel and tourism was not much accepted in the job market. Hence she had to do a Bachelors in Finance. Later, when Emirates Aviation University launched a bachelor’s degree in travel and tourism, she joined the course and thus did a double bachelors. After hustling in a few internships and jobs with a few travel companies, she got her first big break with Emirates Airlines. She joined Emirates Airlines as an intern and with her hard work, within six months, she was inducted as a permanent staff there.

Talking about her challenges, Rachna says that challenges in life are inevitable and you should make an effort to surpass them. She says when she made the decision to leave her permanent job to join as an intern with Emirates, the decision was not welcomed by people around her and she had to face a lot of apprehension from her family. People also suggested to her to settle down in life. However, she always believed in herself and with her hard work was able to get the job and the pay she wanted. Besides, she says that moving to India and getting along with the people here was quite challenging as they had different mindsets from the people that she had worked with earlier in Dubai. However, she got to add a different dimension to her life when she got to see life through their lenses.

Talking about her inspirations and role models, Rachna says that her friend Dr. Trisha is her biggest inspiration who always pushed her to be her best.

To the youth, her advice is to be compassionate, empathetic and a people person in life. Besides, she advises them that hard work is the only key to success in life.

Rachna thinks that in any field both education and experience are important. She says education makes no sense if you don’t have the required experience. And experience comes with learning only.

Talking about her childhood, Rachna says that she is reminiscent of her time spent with her brother. She would play Cricket and other indoor and outdoor games with her siblings and her childhood was a great experience of her life.

Talking about COVID, Rachna says that the pandemic was a callous time and created a lot of uncertainty around. Many people lost their jobs. However, she says that the pandemic also gave us an opportunity to spend time with our loved ones. Her husband, daughter, and best friend all helped her pass those tough times. Further, she learned a lot about different things online.

In her spare time, Rachna likes to spend time with her daughter and do art and craft work. Besides, she likes to write and enjoys sunsets and sunrises.
