Rachana Agarwal has been teaching Dance to children and women for the last fifteen years in Jaipur. She, along with her daughter, teaches Classical, Folk, Bollywood, Hip-Hop and Contemporary Dance forms to Ladies.
Rachana was born in a joint family in Jaipur, Rajasthan and grew up with them. She says that Dance has always been her hobby and passion since childhood. But, because of her big family, and the mentality of not letting girls out of the house, she was never encouraged to follow her dream. During her hostel life, she lived her dance passion freely and that’s when she thought of taking it forward.
Talking about role models, Rachana says that seeing Saroj Khan, Asha Parekh, Waheeda Rehman and Madhuri Dixit on TV, she got her inspiration in Dance.
Rachana says that she had to close her dance institute during the Covid pandemic which was a very disappointing phase for her. She says that she did not face any financial problem as her husband’s job was going on but she was upset for not meeting her students and teaching them. Then she started making her dancing videos and started connecting with her students by taking online classes.
If Rachana gets a chance to go back to her past, she would like to go back to her hostel life for it being the most worry-free phase and when she had no responsibilities.
Rachana advises the newcomers to the Dance field that learning the Western dance forms is good but they must take along our own cultural and classical dance forms too. Besides, she says that studies are equally important, so keep on doing your studies together, never leave it.
